Are the early fall movies better than the summer?

Just curious. Wind River, It, Mother!, Dunkirk (technically summer I guess but still around).. I'm sure there are others I'm missing...

There were a bunch of threads earlier discussing the dearth of quality movies this past summer so personally just curious on the board's opinions. There seems to be more excitement amongst the post Labor Day releases than the post Memorial Day releases on this board IMO. Or are there simply less new releases now to hold our attention and let us focus more on individual quality? Or are we all just bored and jaded?

Yes and its not close. Summer is for big dumb blockbusters. Fall is when the Oscar bait and more serious movies start coming out.

October-December is by far the best time for movies.

Summer blockbuster movies have turned into either animated or super hero movies. You will get a few geared towards adults, but they are trying to capture the market of kids being out for summer.

Like others have mentioned, once Sept gets here they fluff has gotten out of the way and its time for the big boy movies.

The fall movie releases are going to be great from a quality perspective. Summer goes for the big blockbuster as they should, but I saw a YouTube video for the movies coming out this fall, and like 95% of them look really good
