Yeah, I side with this sentiment.
Sam being the boss was the better Cheers. They really neutered him when Rebecca came in, now he's just a bartender working for a girl he can't get.
At least with Diane he was the boss, ex-jock with a girl employee who tried to neuter him.
Diane tried to do it with culture...she was the protypical, I'm gonna change this man woman. Rebecca did by just reminding Sam he no longer owned the bar and he worked for her.
Wasn't as interesting. That's probably why they moved the show away from Sam and to the other characters.

I just re-watched the first season with Rebecca, and it is still probably my favorite season of the series.
