Yeah, I highly doubt a second season would follow the same story line. It's pretty clear they are setting up for a definitive (not so happy) ending.

I'm bummed it's almost over. This is my favorite show currently on right now.

Has anyone seen what the ratings are like for this season? If this board's overall interest is any indication, then I imagine the viewership hasn't been great.

It was billed as an anthology series - so season 2 would have a separate storyline. Hopefully (if the series is continued) they keep doing period pieces on European explorations that went wrong/missing.

I’m down for an anthology series as long as the quality is as good as this season has been. There are endless things they could do plot/setting-wise. Roanoke, for example.

But this season has been amazing. I am also sad it’s ending today.

Weird ending. I don’t like that Crozier ends up living. And I didn’t fully understand what happened in the end....I assume he just decided to stay with the Eskimo people forever? And was that his kid at the end?

That ending shot seemed like it was trying too hard to be meaningful and fell flat for me. But I didn’t care. Awesome, awesome show. Loved how Hickey went out, thinking he had Tuunbaq figured out and it backfires. Goodsir went out like a boss as well...even indirectly took out the monster too.

Interested to see what they do with the series. Instead of making it a multi season series they should just shell out a new miniseries like this every year. Hopefully the ratings were good enough to actually merit that.

My one complaint (very trivial) was that Tuunbaaq just looked so.. goofy. With all the visuals they could have made him look a little better. He kinda just looked like a large hairless dog

And if only took us 10 episodes to learn Lady Silence’s real name

I enjoyed it immensely. One question is why didn’t Crozier die of lead poisoning like the other crew members? He was eating out of the same cans as the others. Also how did the new expedition find the Inuit without getting stuck in the ice too? There is no NW passage. Did they just hike the Arctic until they stumbled upon them? Think I’ll watch the rerun now!

I believe he and the other higher ranking guys on the ship were eating food other than the canned food until things went south. I remember them saying they had slaughtered a certain amount of animals and preserved the meat for the trip. So they eventually started eating the canned food but weren’t exposed to it as long as the rest of the crew.

James FitzJames died a couple of episodes ago of lead poisoning and he was second in command. I assume he was eating the same food as Crozier.

I guess we don't need an answer to every question? Just a plot line to keep the story going I guess..

I absolutely do not understand the lack of interest in this series.

Well people don't like watching shows in closed caption

Cozier did have to go through alcohol withdrawals, it's possible he wasn't eating as much or the same food - that could possibly explain it? Not sure

I agree with you that Tunbaaq was odd looking and was likely the worst aspect of the series. It’s like they didn’t even try to make him look real at all. And definitely didn’t care that he looked nothing like a polar bear.

I'm not sure how I feel about the ending with Crozier - but that would align more with what another poster said - that he was seen as late as 1850 irl. But I guess based on him getting rejected at home he figured he was better off out there. I did like the inclusion of the Inuit because it showed that people can survive and sustain in that environment.. but just showed how ill prepared the ships crew was to handle it.

Also thought it was funny that she cut off his hand when I'm pretty sure the key to the lock was close by. I remember him almost freeing himself at some point. But I guess she didn't know how to use a lock and key? She looked puzzled by the shackle.
