I don't necessarily think this either

I stated earlier:

I could see the demon using that exact moment to push her head out the window knowing that's where a pole would be.

Regardless, I thought this movie was just masterful. Loved it.

Her grieving Charlie's death screaming/crying, "I just wanna die"

man that gave me chills

It set up to be a creepy, slow burning psychotic thriller and then went all WTF at the end which I actually really loved

easily the best part of that movie. that whole sequence starting at the party and ending with the camera descending into the ground with the casket was horrifying.

unfortunately, that was the peak for me

That sequence -- her breakdown when she discovers Charlie's headless body in the car, with the head on the ground with the ants, was crazy (in a good way).

That and the blow-up at the dinner table were the best scenes, imo.

The cinematography might be some of the best of any horror film. The camera moves were fantastic and flawless.
I also loved how they mixed the miniatures into the set design and sometimes used them as the real thing.

Incredibly well shot and edited. Really good movie.

No, I actually read that the Charles mat was made for Annie's brother (the one that died)

Why kids would need/want a door mat I have no clue

Because they are meant to welcome a demon inside. Not actually for the kids.
