I really like how Nathan was really telling him the truth the whole time. He did things here and there to manipulate Caleb, but everything he told him about Ava was perfectly true.

We don't know what is going on. I like that I don't know what is going on. Could it be an extraterrestrial, a portal to another dimension, a force we found on the Earth? We don't know. And that's a good thing, and I doubt we'll really know until the end of the movie if that.

Watch Ex Machina because he's a director/writer of very high thought.

I also love how genius 28 Days Later is. It was/is a masterpiece in its genre before the market became so oversaturated with zombie content.

That is because its pacing is absolutely flawless. We meet AVA within the first 9 minutes of the movie. Think about how rare something that important happens in most movies.

Yeah, it was really a pleasant surprise that he won the contest and was meeting Ava so quickly. So many other filmmakers are dragging that out and taking 30 minutes to get into anything substantive.

Just came across this and came here to post. Trailer is thrilling, and as others have said, Alex Garland is all I need to hear.

Looks like it incorporates parts of at least the first 2 books.

It’s a lot more complicated than that.

I’ve read the first 2 books and they were great. Haven’t read the third yet.

Potential Spoilers:

The books are about something called Area X: a piece of coastland taken over by something (still unclear after 2 books if it is alien or not). Weird shite happens their and nearly every expedition into the territory has ended in disaster. Those who made it out were fundamentally changed and typically die soon after.

Portmans husband (if she is the same as the book character) was in a previous expedition into area x.

Not sure how to say much more without major Spoilers that may or may not be part of the movie.
