I just got this email:
This email is to inform you that your AMC Stubs account was flagged because it was earning rewards using the MoviePass program. We would like to remind you that purchases through subscription services such as MoviePass are not eligible for AMC Stubs participation, per the Terms & Conditions that you entered into when you became an AMC Stubs member. If this activity continues, your account may be deactivated due to suspected fraud. You may review the Terms & Conditions on our website here: LINK .

Not yet, but it wouldn't shock me to see one in my Inbox soon.
I use the kiosks for tix with my MoviePass and skip the snark, sullen employees who scrawl MP on my ticket.

If they start doing that, I'll take a fat Sharpie and write FU on my MoviePass card.

I use the kiosks too.
Tbh, I go to AMC exclusively and I have been Trying to bankrupt moviepass, averaging 3-4 movies a week, lol.

What I don’t get is why should they care? Moviepass is still paying them every time I go to a movie. They aren’t making less money on me than they are on someone not using moviepass.

Well except for the rewards they are giving you
I agree though. Moviepass is bringing them in more money. I haven't joined yet, but I would be doing the same thing.

AMC: Oh no, the customer is getting a discount on our $10 large popcorn (that is only really feasible if he refills it after the movie but before he leaves). We'll keep him from getting other discounts on our $7 drinks or $12.50 chicken tenders from now on.
If they're getting paid for the movies (which I assume they are given that they are accepting movie pass), why does it matter that he's getting the rewards? So if he had a gift card, he doesn't get Stubbs points then?

Look for AMC to add a third ticket line. MoviePass users will have to wait until all of the Stubbs VIP members, then the regular customers get their tickets. THEN the MoviePass people can kneel and ask for tickets.

I read the TOS, no, gift certificates are not eligible for Stubs rewards. Ain’t that some bullshite?
My email response:
I want to make sure I understand this correctly. You are being paid for every movie I attend, in full, and you are upset that I am using your theatre and your rewards? Should I consider going to another theatre to see 3-4 movies a week? At an average of 12 dollars a ticket, that’s 36-48 dollars a week in business for partial credit on popcorn which costs pennies on the dollar to produce.
I was not aware this was against the TOS, and I will refrain from using your rewards program when I use moviepass, and will consider your competitors in the future.

Except I wouldn’t be going to see shitty movies (I’m looking at you proud Mary) on a lark had it not been for moviepass. They made money from that transaction, a movie I wouldn’t have gone to see. So every 4-6 movies I go to, I get a 5 dollar credit. Before moviepass I went to maybe 4-6 movies a year max. The scales are still tilted heavily in their favor, and in turn I get a partial credit on a popcorn that costs pennies to produce?
It’s a stupid business move on AMCs part. They should be doing everything possible to get their theaters packed.

It’s all about control. Movie pass could have them by the balls.

100% agree with you. If I had moviepass, I'd be going to movies I wouldn't have regularly paid to see. AMC is being stupid about this. If there is a company (moviepass) that wants to pay them full price for me to see the movies, why won't you let them! For me personally, all suspending my stubbs account would do is either a) make me not buy snacks/food or b) go to a different theater.

AMC's resistance to MoviePass is allegedly due to their planning their own subscription service... which doesn't exist yet. It's dumb AF. We skipped AMC completely from October to just a few weeks ago. That's when I tried the kiosk, on a lark. Truly, I prefer AMC to Regal and NCG, due to the Freestyle Coke machines, but I'm playing with house money anyway, since we got the MP annual deal, and I paid for my Stubs Premiere extension with my rewards credits when it was a $10 special.
BTW, it was the AMC employee who was snarky about MoviePass, not MoviePass about going to AMC.

Moviepass people, could you use your moviepass debit card to buy your tickets through fandango on your phone? Would they still be able to tell you used moviepass to get your stubbs points?
I usually buy my tickets through fandango because my disney account and stubbs account are linked through that to get rewards points.

No, due to current structure of MP's TOS, but that's not to say that won't change in the future. The minor annoyance to the current MP check-in order is that you have to be physically present at the theater to check in (which loads the funds onto your card).
Granted, if it's feasible, you can stop in at the theater at noon and pick up your tix for a movie later that night, just not via an online method, at the moment.
The only time we've encountered an issue was last Thursday at the Black Panther premiere. The Regal we went to has reserved seating, and the 7pm showing was almost all sold out and the only tickets available were down in front of the screen.

The regal in my area is not supported by MP or that is where I would go. I contacted MP and the theater about it. The theater responded that since all of their seats are premium, MP won’t support them.

So how does this work with something like the Cinemark in Perkins Rowe with all assigned seating? You don't get to pick your seat until right before the movie?
I'm thinking about signing up for Moviepass but I'm curious as to how that works, especially for big movies during opening weekend when you really need to purchase a ticket ahead of time to get a good seat.
ETA: didn't read your whole post but you basically confirmed what I'm worried about. I've been seeing more movies lately now that I can buy my ticket online and reserve a seat so I don't have to worry about showing up early, so I'm trying to decide if I'd be seeing enough movies to make it worth it.

Go see a movie on the second or third week? It really can’t be beat for value.

It's not perfect, but it sure as shite better than $15 a ticket.
