my favorite anecdote about that is from micheal caine...

I took a movie in BR last spring and most certainly did not love the the script, but liked the paycheck. It happens.

The thing I am more referencing, and I think people are taking it easy to go just to the money was when actors have major creative differences with the project where money doesn’t seem to be the object.
I was primarily thinking about Flesh + Blood where Haur and Verhoeven took decades to reconcile afterwards. That wasn’t about money. That was specifically about the movie and Haur thinking it would hurt his career and the creative differences around that.
