I think it's top 60 all time in box office sales.

In fact, he is the only actor in history to have eight consecutive films gross over $100 million in the domestic box office as well as being the only actor to have eight consecutive films in which he starred open at the #1 spot in the domestic box office tally.[3]
Fourteen of the 19 fiction films he has acted in have accumulated a worldwide grosses of over $100 million, and 4 of them took in over $500 million in global box office receipts.
I mean that pretty much sums it up.
If Will Smith reading a phone book will guarantee $100 mil. Why not pay him the big bucks. Nobody else out there can get those results because of the multi demographic draw.

He needs to talk with Bay and get another Bad Boys sequel going.

i'm not defending Will Smith, but don't forget he takes that cash and pays his stylists, drivers, Manager, Agent, trainer, chef, assisstents, uncle sam. And if he is producing the flick, there is that to account for as well.
Granted he still makes bank, but most of these big names also are basically their own small company employeeing a good handfull of folks.

O I hear you. Saw that the other day and thought it was a joke.
I mean honestly, how much does Hancock bring in with Cheadle (a guy that has much more range) as the lead?
75-150 mil? Maybe.

I believe I saw this morning that Bad Boys 3 is already in the works, actually.

I don't understand that bolded part. If he is also producing it, wouldn't that yield him MORE money?

If those figures are remotely accurate, he made $355 million dollars. Off of four movies. Four.
He can be paying those people you listed several million each and not even think twice about that "lost" money.

he has 34 projects in development

Nothing is being argued. I was shocked to see just how much he makes, and shared that.
And as good/bankable as he is, I don't think anyone is really worth getting paid $155 million for many things. But like I said, the studios wouldn't be doing it if they weren't making money from it.

im not too surprised at how much he's made(it is a lot though). just about everyone likes will smith, if not for his movies then definatley from his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air days.

I'm of the opinion that anybody is worth as much as somebody is willing to pay them.

Right, I'm not saying that he's not worth it financially (to a movie company). Just in general, I think it's ridiculous that anyone would make $115 million to make a movie. I think it's overpaying. But that's just my personal opinion. Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm not hating on Mahsta William at all, and I love capitalism. So like you said, if someone is more than willing to give him money hand-over-fist, then more power to him.

I wonder how much he has made off Fresh Prince with all the syndication?
Posted on 8/30/10 at 1:15 pm to BomBayTiger
Probably pennies compared to his recent movies. He probably gives those checks to his kids as allowance.

I think it's overpaying.
as much as Will makes, it probably pales in comparison to Cruise and Pitt!

He may make a ton of money, but when the studio flies him to and from shoots, do you think he gets the Ted Danson plane?
