People always shite on the host to a degree but that was by far the worst of all time

Even my wife was saying she couldn’t take the cringe anymore. You could see the celebrities not even laughing

If ever in doubt just grab Martin Short and Steve Martin or Kimmel.

Best Actor - Motion Picture (Drama): Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer

Glad to see Cillian getting his flowers.

Best Supporting Actress - Motion Picture: Da'Vine Joy Randolph, The Holdovers

Glad to see both her and Giamatti getting love for The Holdovers. That really was an excellent movie and they both had great performances. Would've liked to have seen Dominic Sessa get a nomination though.

Best Actress - Television Series (Drama): Sarah Snook, Succession

I love an actor/actress that can make me absolutely hate their character. Well deserved.

Thought it was great that he brought up he was once nominated for Igby Goes Down (BTW, if you want to skip the bullshite the speeches are all on video on Golden Globes' social media).

Agreed on Da'Vine... she's a great character on Only Murders and manages to make me laugh a good bit in a show with two comedic GOATs front and center. and she did a great job in Holdovers

i haven't seen Poor Things, and it's definitely not a "me" type of movie, but I have a hard time finding it better than Holdovers outside of espousing the preferred modern narrative.

That movie has smelling it's own farts all over it. i'm sure it's good, but bluh.

Just wanted to say that after the slight of Paul Giamatti not getting an Oscar nomination for Sideways when his three supporting castmates were all nominated, I'm for him winning every major award going forward. If he somehow beats Downey Jr. in the Oscars this year, I'm good with that.

they won't be up against each other. downey will be supporting and giamatti will be lead actor.

i'm actually kinda sad the the GG's don't do supporting musical/comedy and drama as separate categories. Gosling definitely deserved some cred.

I hated his character which means that dude acted his arse off

I'm glad Matthew MacFayden won but they were overrating Succession. It was like they were giving it the lifetime achievement award or something. This was by far it's worse season and didn't deserve THAT much love.

As good as The Bear is, I would have loved to see Barry, or even Jury Duty win for best comedy. Jeremy Allen White vs Bill Hader is a tough choice but I think Hader was better than everybody, including the dramas, not just the comedies. He was brilliant.

I guess I need to give Beef a watch, they cleaned house too. I would have bet money Elizabeth Olsen was going to win for Love and Death.

Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy on Television

Ricky Gervais, “Ricky Gervais: Armageddon” *WINNER
Trevor Noah, “Trevor Noah: Where Was I”
Chris Rock, “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage”
Amy Schumer, “Amy Schumer: Emergency Contact”
Sarah Silverman, “Sarah Silverman: Someone You Love”
Wanda Sykes, “Wanda Sykes: I’m an Entertainer”

I'm glad they added stand ups as a category and I'm glad Gervais won, but what a terrible group of nominations. It's like they didn't watch any stand ups and just nominated the names people know. insane to think that Nate Bargatze didn't even get nominated.

terrible list outside of Gervais and Rock. I'd prefer Schulz, Dillon, Rogan, Bargatze, Chappel, Gillis... hell even Matt Rife over any of those people. and Schulz and Bargatze's are the only ones i thought were great.

i'll also wager that almost any of the latter specials from the last year got more views than the former's 4 combined.

Haven't listened to Schultz, I'll have to try him. Gillis' new one had me and my wife in tears, especially when he was talking about relating to Al-Qaeda soldiers more than the US. So funny. But I can see why they wouldn't nominate him. His Trump impersonation is spot on too.

I wish Anthony Jeselnik would come out with a new special. He's definitely my favorite.

If you're going to nominate women, Michelle Wolfe needs to be on there. Her Netflix special/series was freaking hilarious. Probably the funniest female stand up routine I've ever heard.

That's one dude I can't really get down with. Dude got popular just because women think he's cute, not because he's funny. We tried his special and turned it off about halfway through. He's definitely funnier in 1-2 minute tiktok clips than a full standup imo.

hence why i said "even Matt Rife." i had some chuckles at his special. the bit about finding his step-dad's video collection and the subsequent conversation was pretty hilarious. he does close out taking shots at people saying he's only good at crowdwork and tik tok.

i haven't laughed at Wanda Sykes or Schumer in years. I haven't laughed at Trevor Noah ever.
