I think Chadwick was gonna win anyway, and now that he tragically passed, it’s a lock.

He was great in Ma Rainey. He has a few scenes in it where he just crushes.

Also, my man Delroy lindo is getting zero love for supporting actor and it’s a travesty .

Mank is going to get something, but not director or best picture. Those are locks for Spike Lee. But it’s about Hollywood and Hollywood loves Hollywood.

Jack Fincher gets the screenplay Oscar, and makes son David jealous.

I don't get why he's being overlooked. He was really great in this and given so much one on one camera time to shine.

Well, for me they’re all from films no one has seen. I didn’t even know the vast majority of these films existed until the Golden Globe nominations were announced.

Mank is on Netflix.
Borat is on Prime.
Da 5 Bloods is on Hulu (?).
Black Messiah is on HBO Max.

Da 5 Bloods is the only one I haven’t seen. But Spike is a lock. I’ve heard rave reviews about it. He’s in the same position Scorsese was in with The Departed with the Academy itching to finally give him the award after so long.

Okay?

They're on streaming services but that doesn't mean anyone has watched them. I had heard of Da 5 Bloods, Mank, and Borat but the others I had not known were in existence until last week.

I haven’t seen Hillbilly Elegy. I read the book. The movie is on Netflix. Allegedly, Glenn Close does a good job. But I’m not down for the rags to riches type storylines. Those movies remind me too much of the typical Miramax Oscar bait fare from the late 90s.

It has its good moments but it is far from Spike Lee's best work

So all nominations should have gone to Bad Boys 3, The Invisible Man, and Wonder Woman 1984. Not sure what the people who keep saying this actually want.

With the exception of The Father, every one of these movies received notable publicity upon its release, and the vast majority of them are easily accessible. At some point, not having heard of them is on you.

No desires were mentioned or even alluded to. I was simply making an observation.

You would have to think Boseman is a lock for Male Actor. I have heard nothing but praise for Frances McDormand in "Nomadland" but... she already has the "Triple Crown of Acting" with 2 Oscars, 2 Emmy Awards, and 1 Tony. I suspect that despite her performance and tremendous skill that SAG might want to share the wealth a little give the win to someone else.

I have literally seen none of these.

Any of them actually worth watching?

Maybe, but Riz Ahmed is damn good in Sound of Metal and I would not be surprised if he won.

He learned both sign language and how to play drums for the role, then gave a heck of a performance on top. I was quite impressed.
