Huh? Are you talking about the scene in the storm clouds? That was an accident due to the guy being emotionally unstable, and it was also what started his descent into complete madness
Yea I know but he was already on a bad path, frick that dude. He pissed me off

In pt. 2 a young Vito is definitely somebody you can root for. He's a poor dad that you want to make something of himself. I see him as a very likeable character. Michael in pt. 1 is until he comes back to the states. I mean depending on if you like a character simply because they are badasses, which I guess most people do, %75 of the characters in the movie you like.

You dog. I feel like the the first Transformers gets a lot of hate, not saying this is the case with you, because of the second two.
I've actually never seen the second two. I hated the first one so much it's hard for me to put into words. I try to avoid threads about it because I don't want to be the turd in the punchbowl. But really, I think the movie is horribly made, nearly impossible to follow, juvenile in the worst sense of the word, racist, and aggressively stupid. I'm willing to suspend disbelief and heck - I wanted to like it - but man... I really really REALLY hated every second of that movie. Yes, Megan Fox is hot.
I do hate the ruined my childhood line for much the same reason you do. I'm not saying I'm not guilty of using it (or its alternate, "raping my youth"), but you're right. If someone makes, say, a God awful adaptation of my favorite comic book (hello, Watchmen!), it doesn't ruin the source material (and Watchmen the movie had its moments). Yes, Megan Fox is hot.
I agree on 8 1/2. But I'm not a huge Fellini fan. Man, is that movie self-indulgent. It's fairly indefensible. I was almost ashamed for him, watching it the first time. La Dolce Vita is so good, though.
Agreed on Megan Fox.
I'll do a movie a notoriously hate: There Will Be Blood
1. Love the use of location. Marfa is beautiful and desolate. It's a veritable character itself.
2. The score is pretty great.
3. DDL is an uncompromising actor. He never once lets Plainsview have a moment, even a glimmer, of humanity. Plainsview is a truly repugnant character. He committed to it.
4. It accurately describes the Rule of Capture, an important legal theory in oil and gas ("I drank your milkshake")
5. At least everyone who is destroyed deserves their fate. There's not one decent person in the movie, so I'm cool with everyone's moral, physical, and economic destruction.

Wolfman:
1. Del Toro's acting. It's so bad it was humorous. Almost.
2. The clothes and lighting set the right mood for a terrible 19th century story.
3. The movie ended
4. No one can ever make me see it again
5. It wasn't as bad as Indiana Jones 4 or Legion. shite, yes it was. Nevermind.

It was still one of the cheesiest films of all-time given the source. It was also highly inaccurate (just please avoid putting Aurelius in the movie, that was dumb) and the writing was generally awful. And Russell Crowe was also just plain...and terrible. It takes itself way too seriously, and those are movies I hate with a fiery passion. KNOW YOUR PURPOSE.
Spot on

Another
Maltese Falcon
1) It was like a jewel thief movie meets film noir movie.
2) The age of the movie didn't hurt the plot or story (suspension of disbelief).
3) Humphrey Bogart played Humphrey Bogart.
4) The Maltese Falcon was cool looking.
5) The action that occurred on screen rather than talked about on screen, was nice and welcome.

Jennifer body
1. Fox sexy
2. So is that blonde
3. The stupid emo kid gets eaten
4. The scenes where she explains her illness and hunger I thought were cool
5. This is the only movie I looked at Fox as an actress as well as eye candy. I can remember lines from it. I've watched the first transformers movie a bunch, don't think I ever heard a word come out her mouth, just remember that scene when the car breaks down.
Stupid cheesy vampire movie, but it had some redeeming qualities

The last movie that I hated was Avatar: The Last Airbender. It was so terrible that I can't think of one redeeming quality, much less five.
Yep, that was the first one that came to my head, and the only slight redeemable feature I can think of is that it had a good musical score, and it ends there.

Understandable. What part would you say is racist? I've seen it a few times and nothing is coming to mind. The second one is definitely racist. Megan Fox is hot. I guess a lot of times what it boils down to with popcorn flicks is whether you are having fun watching it or not. It irked you no doubt.

I've never read a single comic book/graphic novel outside of Watchmen. I read it the first time and after I read the final page I flipped straight to page one and started over, I've never done that before. 1) because I really liked it and 2) I don't know if it makes me dumb or not, I didn't consider it the easiest book out there to read. That being said, I don't hate the movie. It's not all that rewatchable, but I love Rorschach, and just getting to see him on screen made it ok because I think they did a good job with him. Megan Fox is hot coughI'm disappointed you didn't vote in the sexiest/most beautiful actress of all time threadcough He's probably tied with Marv from Sin City as my favorite comic book character ever. I guess I need to read Frank Millers stuff given how much I like that movie. Also thought the score to Watchmen was pretty tight.

The deaf kid? Though he's not enough of a factor in the movie to count I guess.

Exactly.
This thread softballs stuff in here to try and defend, and I realize that's not the point of the thread, so fwiw I'm not trying to change opinions or hate on you for hating these things.

And as for my submission: Avatar
1) The special effects are of course incredible
2) Neytiri is a passable character
3) Sigourney Weaver puts forth a good performance
4) The wildlife is cool and imaginative
5) The flying sequences was pretty damn cool

Sucker Punch
1) Really, really hot chicks
2) Good special effects
3) Fight scenes are well paced
4) Nazi Zombies
5) Its definitely ambitious, which I can appreciate, even if it largely fails in the end

Jazz is a minstrel. It's a pretty offensive character. And I like popcorn films. I just ask that they not be completely stupid. Stuff can blow up in a movie with a decent plot and interesting characters. For example, I side with the Avengers over TDK. It's more fun.

Mainly agree, though I think they did a poor job with Rorshach. Not the characterization - it was a well acted part - but with the focus. Rorshach is not a hero, he is a psychotic, amoral vigilante. Snyder clearly read Watchmen, he just didn't understand it. But it's not a horrible movie, just not great.

It's no problem. I like discussing different opinions. Spice of life and all that.
