Wow, nice job by the Clippers. Now they can play Camby and Griffin in the starting line up. I am sure they would rather have dealt Kaman than Randolph, but I am impressed that they were able to trade away one of their pricey big men for an expiring contract, and Richardson can still help out the team next year.

with gasol, thabeet, and randolph, memphis suddenly has a respectable front line. they basically upgraded darko to randolph. good move. if conley developes, this team could surprise some folks. they are have two solid wings in mayo and gay. randolph just needs to keep his arse out of the club and away from 3-6 mafia.

on paper it's decent.
we'll see how much zbo poisons the young minds on the team.

No, I think Camby was the guy they wanted to keep all along. He's the real defensive center, not Randolph (too lazy) or Kaman (not explosive enough).

He's the best fit if the goal is to get Blake Griffin 30 minutes a game at the 4 position.

Memphis is going to have a great team next year with a legitimate chance to finish 2nd in the Southwest. I expect them to finish higher than the hornets. They are better at 4/5 positions.

Not to mention that none of those big name guys would even consider signing with Memphis in the first place.

can't remember where it is. It prolly was insider, but basically echoed your sentiments.

said that with so many people worrying about the FA sweepstakes and the economy that some team was going to swoop in and try to make a run.

Thabeet/Gasol > Chandler/Armstrong?
Mayo > Butler
Gay > Peja
Arthur/Randolph > Dwest/Ely?

Memphis is going to have no offensive rhythm at all, Conley hasn't shown anything, Mayo, Gay, and Randolph all need the ball to be productive, and Thabeet isn't an offensive player (though Gasol is decent). They're not a threat in the southwest.

And I wasn't saying Richardson was an asset to make Memphis a contender for a top FA, but you can trade him at the deadline for a decent young piece to a team desperate to unload salary. Again, it's not really a bad move for Memphis, there just might be better ways to use their assets.
