Yeah a better question would be how many people have actually been timed in the 40?

Basketball and soccer don't place emphasis on sprinting speed - as it is pretty useless unless you can run at speed with the ball.

Baseball doesn't seem to place emphasis on running at all.

If you ran track, you were probably timed in the 100, 200, 800, or mile - but not the 40.

60 is important in baseball since that is the distance from home to 2nd. Maybe they should make you take a 90 degree turn after 30 yards though.

We used to get timed in the 60 for baseball, I don't remember what I ran it in, nothing special though

ETA: What I meant to say is a ran a 5.9 60 but unfortunately Bryce Harper started in front of me and that's the only reason I wasn't the State MVP and didn't get a scholarship to LSU

Unless all you frickers played football, there is no reason why anyone would continually run the 40

so

I ran it twice...once in high school (4.8) and during college for a fun competition before LSU's pro day (same year Ponamsky broke his collarbone ) and ran a 5.0

I would think most people on a sports forum played football.

Never timed myself. I doubt I came anywhere near cracking a 5.

We should start an MSB track team, we'd be dominate

I mean a 10.4 100 yard dash, that's like D1 college track speed

Maybe, but maybe not long enough to get timed.

For example, I played my freshman year on the C team (big HS had three teams), but quit to focus on soccer and track (sports where I had actual talent and got to actually compete).

Were you a state champion in track or at least very close to it?

5.1 played center. Quick off the ball especially since I snapped it a cadence early

I said mine was hand timed. I knew I wasn't really that quick, but I loved saying it. Plus, it was during track season and so I ran it on the track with my spikes on.
