I think it's funny the pro-Yankees thread couldn't even go one page before Yankee fans started taking potshots at other teams. And you wonder why we hate you. You can't even support your team without being a bunch of haters. It's like the fanbase is incapable of being positive.

Also, if you're from New York, have some self-respect and root for the Mets.

So let me get this straight. I cant be a Yankee fan cause Im not from NY or the area?
My dad grew up a Yankee fan. I grew up hearing about Mantle everyday. Have been a fan since day one. If you live in Louisiana, who are you supposed to be aligned with since we dont have a team?

Root for whoever you want. It's not a religion or anything, it's just sports.

And baloo, people hate the Yankees cuz we WIN. That is what we do. It ALL boils down to jealousy.

If I were a Yankees fan, I'd kill myself. Rooting for a team that "always" wins isn't any fun, and it reveals a great charachter flaw. It's not jealousy, it's revulsion.

Not a Yankees fan but that is revisionist history if I've ever heard it. If you had grown up a Yankees fan for whatever reason (you lived in New York, Father was a Yankees fan, etc.), you wouldn't feel anywhere close to that way. Because you root for a perennial loser, you simply have more time to cast broad dispersions about other teams fanbases, which in and of itself is a character flaw.

I think it's funny that you are full of crap.

There's not one post where any Yankee fan says anything negative about any other team.

What started the negative talk was the jackass poster saying that Yankee fans are bandwagon fans and they only post when the Yankees are winning and other crap like that.

If you're a Braves fan, or an Astros fan, or a Cubs fan, or a Rangers fan, or whatever, good for you. But don't post bullshite about the Yankees fans on this thread that isn't true.

Ok so I grew up on Long Island. I root for the yankees so I must be someone who only roots for teams that win and that I should kill myself for that. Oh and for all you that are saying we buy championships, then why have we only won 1 since 2000.

I hate banwagon fans but don't get on someone's arse because they root for a team. If they are true fans then they are true fans no matter where they are.

My fabricated criteria I made up on the spot was:

--Pro sports--
Born raised in the city and grew up watching X team, or lived in city for a good portion of life.

Have a family history of having said fanhood (this usually entails many members being from the city)

any of the above qualifies.

I think thats a pretty fair standard really.
I get the LA people and the Braves, thats understandable...

People can cheer for whoever they want obviously, but a guy flying a Lakers flag in Texas after last season is questionable more times than not.

I am a Yankees fan, I have no family in New York, I am originally from Cali moved to Louisiana. However, I have been watching Yankees since early 80's and I have attended over 200 Yankees games in my lifetime including 5 World Series games, and 22 playoffs games in my life.

However, I guess I am a bandwagon since I am not from New York nor do I have any family in New York.

I really don't care who you root for. The more Yankees fans around the better, IMHO.

You'll have to forgive PJ. While the Yanks have won 5 WS within that period, he can only count as high as the # of teeth he can touch with his tongue. Thus 3.
