I can’t stand tournaments where the blinds go up every 20 minutes and by level 5, it’s all in or fold, waste of time.

I play in a league where the game is structured with 15 min blinds, but it’s a game designed to be done in about 3 hours. It’s good for us weekend and night player types.

It shouldn’t be that way in a 3-4 digit buy in at a casino though.

Pretty sure it was on this board last year

Poker threads have always been on the MSB. Pay no attention to them or me critiquing your grammar.

My boss does it every year, but he never brings it up and I never see him on there anyway so I'm guessing he doesn't ever do well.

Chris Ferguson once described the main event as hours of sheer boredom combined with moments of sheer terror.

I believe that was Tom McEvoy. Jesus Ferguson is just a thief.

BTW,

I onced played a tourney at wsop. This must’ve been 5 years ago. I was below avg to short the whole time. I make it into the money. Joe Cada was at my table. We bagged and tagged. Still short stack but not desparation. I thought about my strategy that night. We gone back the next day and young kid opens and I have KKxx. I shove and tanks. I’m feeling good but I rather get the pot uncontested. He puts in the call and turns over QQxx. Flop Q55 and I was sent to the cage. Fun experience …lots of interesting random people I ran into.

Mostly illegal across most of the US. There are actually a few states where it's allowed though and the major sites service those states.

(Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan)

BUT

you are limited to only play with people in those states, so the player pool is much lower and more limited than it otherwise would be.

In other words, it's still majority fubared.

The room at Paris is huge! It amazes me how many folks have 10k to light on fire. The 10k bounty event was going on Saturday. About 650 players and well over 1/2 under the age of 35 - wish I had had that kind of fire power at 25!

Some players have investors that put up their bounties for them, expecting a high% payback on winnings

That’s flight 1A. There’s 3 more starting flights and 1A will be by far the lowest number of entrants in the flight

Doubt 389,000 will even be in the top 10 at the start of day 2

I don’t think the chip leader on any day besides the final table ever won the ME.

I think raymer was a middle day chip leader and went on to win - could be wrong on him though

Jamie gold was chipleader on like day 3 and ran away with it

But yes the field is so massive and the variance kicks in, it’s hard to do for sure

America's Card Room (ACR) feels like the only legit site to play on these days, but the run-outs still seem ridiculous. As in, the 1-4 outers seem to always hit when you have a huge advantage going to the river. But that's every online poker site I've played in general.

Or you can go to Lauberge and play 10 hands an hour. I heard it’s the worst run poker room in America.

I’ve been a few times and didn’t really care for it. Felt like a home game where the house was getting a cut, and I showed up as the uninvited guest.
