your favorite player, and they decide to sit out the game? LeBron for example...
When players are getting $500k a game, they shouldn't take games off. Brett Favre and cal ripken wouldn't miss for anything

I know some people that went to Indianapolis for New Years and a Colts game to see Manning and he sat.

Hell if LeBron and the Cavs are smart he should be playing like 65 games in the regular season. Keep him fresh for the playoffs and extend his career. They'd likely still be the 1-seed, and even if they aren't it wouldn't that be a big of a deal until a super team is formed in the East.

I went to the LSU Florida game for the sole purpose of seeing LF play once in college. It's college so that's a different scenario though. I was just like "well this is unfortunate"

Of course I would.

Whether I'm mad or not is also irrelevant to their decision.

You're buying a ticket to watch teams play.

Bought decent tickets for the Rangers-Mariners game last summer since it was supposed to be Yu vs. Felix

Both got scratched. I think the matchup ended up being Derek Holland vs. Hisashi Iwakuma.

Heaven forbid, they have to run around a basketball court for 40 min once every 2 days. I work hard for 8 hours every day and I don't take days off. If I got paid 500k every two days, I wouldn't ever take a day off and I would retire in less then 10 years. These guys have to work a third of the year for a short span. We have to work 30 years,5-7 days a week for chump change

I don't buy tickets to watch a specific player. I would be a little disappointed that I didn't get to see one of the stars, but I definitely wouldn't be mad.

Did you know that injuries increase 3x on the 2nd night of back to backs? Is the goal to win a title or not?

Yea, same thing. Totally!

Ok, sure you wouldn't. You're a regular, old Ironman!!!

Yea, these guys work 2.5 hours a day every other night, you nailed it!!!

Athletes work a more physically taxing job than 99.999999% of us message board posters. You're probably making these posts from work too.

There aren't enough games in the NFL schedule to decide to just sit a few of them out. Ripken's streak was one of a kind and something we'll never see again.

LeBron can and should sit out 15 or so games a season because the Cavs are a lock to get in the playoffs. The ultimate goal is not to win tonight in Portland, but to be lifting the trophy at the end of the season.

As for your other comment about you working 5-7 days a week for 30 years and not being able to call off work a lot, well you're a little more expendable to your organization than LeBron is to his. LeBron is so good and so irreplaceable that if he decides he doesn't want to play on a given night, the Cavs kinda have to say "ok" and move on.

ETA: Lue doesn't want him playing every regular season game anyways. Last year showed the benefits of having a well rested LeBron in the playoffs.

I went to a Braves game during Chipper Jones last year and he didn't play that day. Braves beat the Rockies and Kris Medlen pitched an amazing game. I would have liked to seen Chipper play but the Braves won so it didn't really bother me.

If your company knew that their year end goal was more likely to be reached with you taking a few extra days off they sure as frick would.

But the situation for a professional athlete and the situation for a full-time working stiff are so different it is really really stupid to even attempt compare them.

I don't have a problem with a guy sitting here and there. Deal with it as a fan. What I have a problem with is sitting your top 3 guys as Lue did. It just seemed like an F you to someone or such a lame attempt at acting alpha like Pop.
