Would Bruce Weber be the worst coach to take two DIFFERENT schools to the Final Four?

Of the modern-day coaches who have done it (like Williams, Kruger, Pitino, Huggins), I don't recall one who was fired by the first team he took to the Final Four.
edit: I think you are misinterpreting what I mean, so I clarified.

Seems like a good category to be the "worst" of

I agree, but man this came out of nowhere. I doubt casual fans knew he was still coaching.
This is like Les Miles coming back to coach Minnesota and getting them in the playoff.

He coached Illinois and Kansas State. Not exactly powerhouses.
He’s gotta be doing something right.

Illinois didn't think so. 6 years later, the only thing separating Illinois from Rock Bottom is Rutgers.
I'm not completely trashing the guy. I'm just saying he doesn't fit the other coaches on the list. Or at least he doesn't get their respect.
And as for do something right, he did. He got in the region where the top 4 seeds lost. I mean, he's in a region where a team with Johhny Jones on the bench had a puncher's chance.

Yeah, but that was the second year Bruce Weber had those guys. Think he deserves some credit, but no doubt results have been a mixed bag at Illinois and K-State.

Edit: Read the question wrong. Yeah, I would say he probably is. It's still a hell of an accomplishment.

He inherited an Illinois team that was completely stacked.

What's funny is Lon Kruger and Frank Martin couldn't get K-State to the Final Four. It would be funny if the reject got them there instead of the up-and-comers.
I'm actually pulling for Kansas and K-State to meet in the Final Four. Self vs. Weber. All 36 remaining Illinois basketball fans might stroke out.

Does Jacob Pullen still hate Weber?

TECHNICALLY, he only took Kentucky.

Except he would have managed to only get one team in the playoff. He also would have replaced the boat rowing that goes on there now.

Brady took LSU to the Final Four
I think he could've caught lightning in a bottle at another major school had he got opportunity.
I could see Tom Crean doing it as well but I think he's a better coach than Weber.

Disclaimer: Illinois grad, '03-'07 so I had a front row seat to the decline of Illinois basketball.
Even with the (gulp) past 10+ years of suck Illinois is #15 in historical win%. I think in Bruce Weber's first year at Illinois it was top ten in this metric and in consideration for "Best team to have not won a championship in the tournament era." So, not a powerhouse, but easily top of that next tier.
Bruce Weber second Illinois team was undefeated most of '05, including putting a beat down on Chris Paul's #1 ranked Wake Forest team. Extended media coverage, magazine covers, etc.. all followed the team that year as he piled up the single most wins in NCAA history at 37-2 (missing out on an undefeated season on a last second 3 pointer by Ohio State and a 5 point loss to UNC in the championship game - both losses that year were by a combined 7 points).
With that resume and constant media exposure, he was able to make the major recruiting haul of: Two *** star recruits and one ** star.
He recovered his recruiting later in his tenure, but the program never recovered from his lack of recruiting during the "good" years.
