It's weird, because tv viewership locally for baseball is going thru the roof, with st.louis leading MLB in ratings.
LA and Boston should of pushed the ratings all by themselves.
Are Boston fans bored with Winning?

MLB viewership had it's worst year to date actually.
The issue is no one gave the Dodgers a shot, the Dodgers had to go through the WC and was not considered a power House.

More scoring would make games last even longer.

Multiple reasons
Baseball viewership largely regional. So two major market teams unlikely to attract anyone hoping to see the underdog story. Dodgers were in it last year, red Sox have won 4 times since 2004 I think.
Times were awful for eastern time zone. Why should I bother to even start watching a game that I knew wouldn't end before I needed to sleep for work the next day. Good luck trying to get that Luke warm eastern time zone fan to tune into the game.
Unless the game is a blow out. Baseball is slow enough that I think people tend to tune in towards the end or middle of the game assuming it's at a reasonable time.
Speaking of slow enough, analytics and playing the statistics certainly doesn't do the lukewarm fan any favors. Lots of pitching changes in the midst of games. Fewer pitchers going far into games. (Yes I know price did a pitch a stellar game in the end).

the 1997 WS averaged 2:49 per game...1981 WS averaged 2:19 per game. 2018 was something like 3:49 per game.
They should start these games at 6:30 C and implement every single rule the can to get these games in at under 3 hrs. 2:30 would actually be best. They can do it and do it quite simply...just takes balls.
It s worth saving your game.

I find it interesting so many are weary of LA and Boston teams winning again. Yet when the Warriors are playing in the NBA Finals again or the Patriots in another Super Bowl, no one mysteriously gets tired of them winning. Funny how that works.

That's a crazy fact. No need to have a 9 inning game go over 3 hours and sometimes over 4.

Baseball as an entity struggles in today’s environment. Locals follow their teams but the Game itself doesn’t bring the masses as it used to. It’s a thinking mans game that’s slow of pace. The nuances and strategies are lost on most modern day “fans”. It will continue to lose luster as the”fans” continue to bury their herads in their devices and seek immediate action/satisfaction. Just another victim of the millennials miniature attention span and the dying off of boomers. Sad but true.

Must not watch a lot of AL baseball, they go 3:45-5 hours.
A lot of people were getting tired of it on the East Coast, going to a yankee game with kids, and they aren't getting home till 1am, because the games are 4+ hours long.

I hate Boston and NY. Watched the shite out of that series.
Even with Boston completely dominating them.

bzzzzzzt And let's add, you had several teams just tanking, giving their locals zero hope. Even that couldn't cause a -.

You must have me confused with someone else. No sport, that I'm aware of, is so nuanced that the average sports fan couldn't pick up even the most general strategies in a short amount of time. Acting like baseball strategies are so far over everyone's head is nothing but bullshite.

I watch a ton. Probably saw 120+ Red Sox games this year so I'm fully used to it. Still frustrating that these games aren't quicker though.
