Nice to see Darvin doing well. Hope he can keep it going. Decent number of well known pros with good looking chip stacks. Hope a good pro can take it down this year.

lol, he will not last long if he continues calling with bottom pair on draw heavy flops. Then again, he did make the final table last year.

He had to call a $475 bet on the flop (and he had a pair). And his chip stack, at least after the win, was $49k. I'm assuming 99% of poker players would call a $475 bet with a pair and a stack size over 100x's that.

eta: I know the dude's not great or anything, I was just saying I dont think there was anything wrong with that play at all. If he was really good, he would have come over the top with his little pair of 3s...

I hear ya, but that's classic "bleeding" IMHO. Where we do agree - come over the top. Flat calling should be the move you use the least - again, IMHO. If you think you're ahead, pop it. If you're behind (assuming nothing crazy is going on in the hand that might compell you hanging around....like a fair draw with weighted odds), get out of the way. In the majority of circumstances, for me, I get out of the way or I pop it. Flat calling does one thing for me - robs me of information.

I find out nothing when I flat call. I find out plenty (and necessarily save money through pot control on the next street) if I pop it. I don't need to know much if I get out of the way.

If Darvin becomes (again) a call station, he'll need to get extremely lucky...wait, he can do that with the best of 'em - circa 2009.

An early-position player raised the pot pre-flop to 2,400 and was called only by Vanessa Selbst. On a flop of As-Jd-5s, the pre-flop raiser continued for 3,100. Selbst made the call a second time.

That call seemed to slow down Selbst's opponent. He checked the turn, 3d , then called a bet of 8,300, taking the two players to the river. That's where the board paired Jh with the . Again the pre-flop raiser checked, then instantly open-folded KK after Selbst bet. Selbst proudly opened JJ for four jacks. In addition to winning the pot, she also won a promotional bag of jerky products from Jack Link's Beef Jerky.

"I'm so excited about my beef jerky," said Selbst dryly. She's now sitting behind 280,000 in chips and a ticket for a bag of beef jerky products.

She's the best female(lez or not?) in the game
imo. Go Vanessa!
