like i said, I agree that it's faster, but your talking about milliseconds. someone said earlier, half of the staff is scientists. There's a lot of research that has gone into training and swimming mechanics over the last 12 years or so, I'd put more emphasis on that over the pool.

well when world records get broken by 100ths of a second....then it matters

WR are getting broken by seconds not 10th or 100ths

the pool is giving them an enormous edge to set records

if they expected a new world record to be set every single race, what would be the point of keeping track? If you were expected to be faster every single time why would it be special when it is broken?

Thats what I'm saying...Costas acts like its all the human and gives them all of the credit, he needs to give more credit to the scientist

You and MR will appreciate this btw.

im in oregon right now visiting my parents and all these races are being shown tape delay here on the west coast. I see the results on the internet 2 or 3 hours before they are on tv. I just bet my step dad 100 bucks that phelps would win both golds tonight..he bet he wouldn't.

just watched the 200m butterfly...the relay is coming up in about 25 minutes

I said i was wrong, just don't think it's a huge deal. The gutter thing isn't new, having 10 lanes instead of 8 I can't recall in any other pool. This is the olympics. WR's get smashed every 4 years at the olympics, it's just the way it is. This is the "super bowl" equivalent. While the World championships are nice people train for four years and taper specifically to get ready for this one big competition and deliver absolutely insane efforts.

Case in point, that 4x100 relay. Do you think that the pool and a better suit made the difference? I think lezak got a little pumped up b/c it's the olympics and did something extraordinary.

you a-hole

but you didn't have to watch them to know he would win.. I'd have made that bet in a second anyway

no wake pool combined with zero friction swimsuits=faster times

God forbid advances in technology allowing swimmers to go faster times, and actually IMPROVE the sport.

They've been told by NBC to not mention the suits, period.
