Also, that's not three auto bids, is it?
It will likely be 3 auto bids.

FWIW, the field is expanding from 32 to 48 so it's not that big of a deal. Mexico and USA(hopefully) would easily qualify regardless.

Isn't the WC Final usually in the middle of the day? They aren't choosing the hottest places in the country to host the Final where temps can be 110+ in the summer. Maybe they might play an earlier round game in PHX/LV at night, but not a middle of the day final.

Both cities have an indoor stadium.

It will be in LA

No one wants to go to NY for cup final. They will roll out red carpet in LA, and make it a huge dealio, and the hollywood pedos will be out in full force getting their pictures taken with the star players, while trying 2 get a piece off their children..

Doesn't matter. There's no way the final is in Phoenix or Vegas.

Why is this a four page thread? The final, according to the plan submitted by the US for the bid, will be in New York/New Jersey.

MetLife Stadium will be rocking for the Final.

The thing about New York hosting is no matter which two teams make the Final, those countries are guaranteed to be well represented.

It needs to be at the largest stadium available in an area that can support the crowd. That rules out pretty much every college stadium.

#13 and #15 are both in Los Angeles

Rose Bowl holds over 90,000.

MetLife holds 82,000.

I would say if you were concerned about capacity you would rule out most NFL stadiums that average around 55,000-65,000 and rule in big college stadiums.

The Top 16 capacity stadiums in America are all College Football Stadiums.

MetLife is the largest NFL stadium and it comes in at #17 in American stadiums.

And if these stadiums can fill 100,000 people, they can support the crowds.

State College becomes the 3rd largest city in PA on gameday despite being a cow town.

If CFB crowds can RV, why can't soccer fans?

Can the college towns support the 3rd world and eurotrash crowds that comes from around the world to root for their shitty teams?

Do they have the hotel and dining infrastructure to support it?

Finally, are those college stadiums able to reconfigure for soccer matches?

Well they already support over 100,000.

Why is international 100,000 different than domestic 100,000?

Plus it should be the Rose Bowl. LA can handle it and all these Euros want to spend cash in LA.

And I think it would be really great if the Final started late afternoon and by the 60 minute mark the sun started setting over the San Garbriel Mountains.

I think that's a better advertisement than MetLife Stadium which is garish and corporate.

If the game was in Tuscaloosa, 90% of the crowd isn't going to be from Alabama like it would for an Alabama game. You'll need a minimum of 8050 guest hotel roolms just for FIFA's use. You're going to want a decent airport nearby. You'll need 2 high class practice facilities. Many of the stadiums can't fit a big enough field for a world cup final.

Should be NYC b/c that was the original capital when America became independent. 250th anniversary.

L.A. already had it, it's east coast turn.

I like NYC and it's international flavor, but it seems to me that the Final being anywhere other than the Rose Bowl would be an absolute travesty.

Plus NYC is building pitches for underserved youth. NYC is a sleeping giant for futbol talent. The final would be the coronation for it.
