There is no parity in the women's game. None.

IMHO, There are not enough good women's basketball players to field a legit Top 25 let alone a 64-team post season NCAA tournament, and an additional WNIT field. All the good players got to big shot schools like UCONN, Tennessee, Baylor etc. The rest go to schools like Alabama, Penn State and other schools that just don't have the history of being a women's powerhouse.

That's a big reason why the women's game sucks.

The difference is athleticism. Pretty much any men's team can find athletes not so in the women's game.

Penn St. has tons of history in women's basketball.

That program though, seems to have finally turned the corner from the Renee Porter fiasco.

They had a solid program back in the day. Rene Portland just couldn't win the big one, kind of like Conradt or Goestenkors.

They've missed like 5 tournaments since 1982. If Portland wasn't handcuffing herself by hating lesbians they'd have more than one Final 4.

Which is why the women's game will always suck, at least for a very long time.

0 NCAA titles =/= tons of history

Titles isn't the only indicator of history/tradition/success.

USC baseball for instance. Up until 2010, no national titles. But you'd be foolish to say we didn't have tons of history.

By that definition none of the following programs and coaches have tons of history:
- Georgia and HOF coach Andy Landers
- Rutgers and HOF coach C. Vivian Stringer
- LSU and HOF coach Sue Gunter
- Ole Miss and HOF coach Van Chancellor
- Virginia and HOF coach Debbie Ryan
- NC State and HOF coach Kay Yow

That's not the case to 99.9% of sports fans, coaches, players, programs, teams, or whatever. But I guess if that's how you feel, that's how you feel.

I don't think national titles are the only thing that makes a program historic. Louisiana tech lady techsters on the 80's and early 90's fielded some damn good teams under their coach leon barmore, won some titles, and had some damn good players one being kim maulkey the coach at baylor now (hell barmore is one of her assistants) but you don't consider tech one of the premiere schools or programs in the country althought they have more titles than some of the bigger premiere programs schools in the country.

for awhile tech/tennessess was a great rivalry between summit and barmore.

not at present, but you can still say that in the history of women's college basketball they are a "blue blood"

that being said, the nature of women's athletics, is just that it's top heavy(pun intended).

And it's made worse by title IX where you have women getting scholarships to play sports that probably have no business playing collegiate sports
