Cavs getting Mitchell and not trading one of their big 3 is highway robbery by Altman

Only if you assume that was their best and final. On the pick assumption, I believe the main sticking point on the picks were what was protected and not... not the total amount being moved.

The Jazz’s final counteroffer to the Knicks to land Donovan Mitchell was RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, three unprotected picks, multiple pick swaps, plus potentially another young player. New York declined, so Utah accepted the Cavaliers’ offer.
Knicks would be morons to take that just a to have a core built around Mitchell, Brunson, and Randle.

Now you’re working on the assumption that Randle is a core player. Haven’t they been trying to find takers him for a minute now? You also forgot Mitchell Robinson who not only is young, but their defensive anchor. They are also very high on Grimes who they did not want to move to Utah.

They have, which shows how shitty their core is because he's maybe their best player and he doesn't want to be there anymore and they can't really find a landing spot for him.

Cleveland went from looking at a 7-10 seed to now legitimately being a team that could jump into that tier behind Boston and Milwaukee.
1-2 - Boston/Milwaukee
3-6 tier - Philadelphia/Miami/Brooklyn/Cleveland
7-11 tier -Chicago/Atlanta/Toronto/Charlotte/New York
