Bleacher Report

@BleacherReport

Andrew Wiggins is expected to return to the Warriors "early this week," per
@wojespn

Wiggins has missed 22 games while dealing with a family issue

Not sure this will help the Warriors remember how to win on the road again, but great news for them heading into the playoffs.

Did we ever get the full story? Was there anything to the rumors?

No one officially came out and gave a story, but I think enough was out there to indicate the gist of it was true.

Looking like they’ll either play the Kings or Suns in the first round. With Wiggins back I could see them winning two on the road against either team, but more likely the Kings since their defense is so bad.

Golden State's Andrew Wiggins plans to attend Warriors-Thunder on Tuesday. The reason for Wiggins' leave of absence since mid-February is that his father, Mitchell Wiggins, has been dealing with a serious medical situation, sources close to the situation say

Cover story?

It just seems very unlikely that everyone would be sworn to secrecy over a medical issue like appendicitis, irregular heart beat, needing an organ donation, etc. His PR team would be on that, and it would be justifiable to make it into a story about a guy overcoming a terrible situation and coming back to play in the same year.

Mental health is far touchier of a topic, as is drug addiction. I do not think it’s the latter at all.

I think the rumors posted here took some liberties for sure, but they’re probably close to reality.

Something about his wife cheating on him with his best friend

His wife had a decade long affair with his best friend and the children that Andrew Wiggins thought were his, that he has been raising, were actually his friend's.

ETA:

These were the rumors.

Nothing has been confirmed or substantiated, although there was a lot of smoke about it.

Yeah I think the further detailed the rumors got, the more there were some inaccuracies.

When a photo of Wiggins and his children was posted on Reddit, like it was clear that one of the children had an almost identical appearance to Wiggins.

However, I can see it being a huge mindfrick if your best friend was having a multi year affair with your partner, even if they were your kids.

From the little I know of him, I also think Wiggins would be more shaken by this than some other players.

It’s sad but in this day & age a man is an idiot if he doesn’t get a paternity test done right after the birth.

It’s not in this day and age only

There is historically a 10% non paternity rate. (Roughly 10% of children through time are products of women cheating)
