Basketball is the future. Globally it has twice as many fans as baseball and is second only to soccer in popularity. Football is on the decline, less kids are playing it and as a result more elite athletes will flock to basketball than ever before. Between the coming influx of American talent and how fast the sport is growing internationally, 20 years from now the sheer level of athlete and talent will be off the charts even compared to today. These young studs like Giannis, Doncic, Jokic, Embiid, Porzingis, Gobert are just tip of the iceberg internationally and we're still years away from seeing the impact of the decline in youth football participation.

Yup, nothing more exciting than watching grown men mostly stand around for 3.5 hours pulling at their junk.

I thought this was going to be a NASCAR bait and switcheroo, but nope, it's about baseball. It brought a tear to my eye. I thank sweet little 8 pound, 6 ounce baby Jesus for the start of baseball season every year.

I regret that I only have one upvote to give.

I love football as well, but baseball is where my heart lies.

That being said, I don't see any way that Louisiana could support an MLB team. And in any case, Louisiana already has a baseball team, their season starts in 10 days against ULM.

Average sold out football stadium vs average sold out baseball stadium, which one do you think has the smarter attendees?

Depends where you are.

Meanwhile in America the middle class has decided to price the lower class out of baseball with travel ball.

Agree 100%. I love baseball, but youth travel ball is ludicrous and is totally killing the game. If my 11 yr old played baseball, there's no way in hell I would be able to afford to pay for him to play on a travel team.

Baseball is on it's way to becoming an affluent sport in the USA.

You know there's such thing as little league ball or dixie ball, correct?

Yeah, thanks smartass, I'm aware of LL and Dixie Ball. I'm sure the YMCA even still has youth leagues. But it's obvious that COMPETITIVE ball players all play travel ball.
When I was playing as kid, you didn't consistently travel for tournaments until you played American Legion or Dixie Majors.

I lobe baseball but they have to speed up the game

I’m so tired of guys stepping off the mound and batters stepping out for 20 seconds after every pitch.

They have to do something

Agreed. Also, they need to quit with managers bringing in specialist relievers to face ONE BATTER in the game, then replacing him. It slows down the game like crazy too.
They should make a rule that every relief pitcher should have to face at least 3 batters (barring injury) before being replaced.

In 2018 games averaged exactly 3 hours per 9 innings.

I don't think that's all that absurd... yeah the further back you go the shorter games were on average, but you have to go back to 1986 to get below 2:45 per 9 innings.
