It's like the people who said Brady wasn't elite after 2013 when he finished with a sub 90 QB Rating

Then they fix their oline, get gronk back and boom. Super bowl

Thanks, Case Keenum.

Another point on Winston...

The Bucs' offensive line is bad. The Rams' defensive line is very good. The pocket was collapsing and they were pressuring him all night long.

Winston took zero sacks.

He's a rookie QB that got drafted by a 2-14 squad that posted the 30th best offense last year. I don't understand some of the slamming as if he's been in the league several years and we've seen the extent of what he can do. He's playing well above expectation. He's going to be a good one, unfortunately.
I think the Bucs are set at QB for the foreseeable future. They can focus on addressing other areas for improvement.

It does not bode well for the Saints that they will have to find a replacement for Beees while facing the Panthers and Bucs in the next few years. At least they have the Falcons who look to be in similar circumstances to provide some relief within the division.

yea usually QBs are worried about their completion percentages. I saw him just throw one out of bounds on 3rd down.

It seems you are reaching for hate now.
For the season.
25 Td's 11 Int 3,502 PA Yards. All rookie records

He's 20-12. 26 is the rookie TD record

With two games left he could easily have
30 TD 11 int 4,200 PA Yards which will break any nfl records.

You think he's easily going to throw for 700 yards and 5 TDs with zero picks in the last two games?

The season is not over yet. Plus Luck lead a team that was 2-15 to the playoffs as a rookie. Winston not so much.
The Colts were a playoff team the year prior to losing Manning to injury. The crappy record that allowed them to draft Luck was due to poor QB play, but there was talent on the team. Luck did not have to won games for the colts so much as not lose them.

The Bucs have been a steaming pile of crap for several years. They are not good enough that Winston simply has to avoid losing. So the team records have to be evaluated in an appropriate context to have relevance.

By that same token, Winston's statistics will reflect the need to try and make plays that were not required for Luck.

He's adding in rushing TDs. If you do that, I think Cam has the record with 35 TDs.

The Bucs have PLENTY of talent at the skill positions. Their problem is the offensive line. Just like Luck with the Colts.

on another note the Colts were on a clear decline as Peyton was on his way out. Drafting late in the draft with a long string of 1st round busts.

Bucs in the last 6 years have picked in the top 10 four times. They shouldnt and aren't exactly be devoid of talent.

They may have been on the decline, but there was still a core that were playoff contenders when Luck was inserted in the starting lineup. And the Colts played in a division without any other serious playoff contenders. The Bucs were selecting in the top 10 for a reason, they sucked, and they play in a division that has had legitimate playoff contenders for all but one season. Even with all of those early draft picks the Bucs have roster deficiencies and they suffered from poor salary cap management. So it's not hard to accept that they won't make the playoffs in Winston's rookie season.

Well let's look at who they've drafted:

2010

3rd overall pick was Gerald McCoy who is a top 5 DT/top ten DL.
2nd Brian Price - out of the league by 2012.
2nd Arrleious Benn - Out of the league by 2013.
3rd Mike Williams - Out of the league now.
The rest didn't or haven't made any impact on the team.

2011

1st Adrian Clayborn - complete bust, now with Falcons.
2nd Da'Quan Bowers - Big bust, 51 games in 5 years w/ 7 career sacks. Only played one game this season.
3rd Mason Foster - solid linebacker, but with Washington now.
4th Luke Stocker - third string TE with ~40 catches in 5 seasons.
The rest are either out of the league or have had no impact.

2012

7th overall pick Mark Barron was mediocre for the most part before he was traded.
31st overall pick was Doug Martin who has had high highs and very low lows. He's probably their 5th or 6th best pick since 2010.
2nd rd Lavonte David - All-Pro, probably the 2nd best 4-3 linebacker in the league behind Kuechley.
The rest are either back-ups or out of the league.

2013

2nd rd Jonathan Banks - meh so far.
3rd Glennon - back up qb.
4th Akeem Spence - 2nd/3rd DT.
4th William Gholston - Solid DE starter.
Rest are out of the league.

2014

7th overall was Evans who has the potential to be a top 10, maybe top 5 wide receiver but has been plagued by drops this year.
2nd Sefarin-Jenkins - can't really call him a bust, but it doesn't look like he'll ever produce for the Bucs if at all.
3 Charles Sims - back up running back, solid so far.
2 of the other 3 picks were already cut and the third guy has been rushed onto the line and hasn't made much of a positive impact.

2015

They picked two offensive line but the jury is still out on them and the other is Kwon Alexander who has been good so far for them.

So of those 4 top ten picks, one is an all-pro DT, one is on another team, one is a good young wideout with a fatal flaw to work out, and the 4th is Jameis himself. They've had success in their defense picks but really have only had success on two offensive players in Martin and Evans around Winston. And that line is in a constant flux of meh to crap. Ask David Carr how he feels about negating OL for skill position players.

Lovie Smith is an awful coach for a young quarterback to be under

The fact that he's playing this good is a miracle

If Tampa ever smartens up and hires a real coach he could be really good
