Will Ohio St vs Michigan ever drop a tier if the trend continues?

Ohio St vs Michigan is continually ranked in the top 3, if not the number 1 rivalry game in all of CFB. I’m not arguing that historically, they’re at the top in many all-time rankings as programs.

BUT, the past 20 games is 16-4 Ohio St. the past 16 games is 14-2 Ohio St. This is an absolute one sided rivalry over the past 20 yrs, with it being a beat down in a lot of them.

At what point does this drop a little bit in prestige? Will it ever matter? Can Ohio St roll up another 5-6 in a row before people start to drop this in the tier of rivalry games?

I mean Ole Miss has beaten Bama as much in the past 20 yrs as UM has beaten Ohio St.

But I’m sure you still think Bama/Tennessee should keep getting prime TV slots, right?

Of course not, I thought about adding that, but even UT has a better record against Bama than UM does against Ohio St in the past 20 yrs. TSIO has dropped a tier nationally because of that, being honest as much as I love the rivalry with them.

While the record is lopsided, many of the games have been incredibly entertaining, which is what matters to tv folks

2006,,2012,2013,2016

How long must we all pretend that this is a legit rivalry that anyone cares about? It’s about like LSU-Tulane at this point.

Exactly

Yet the SEC offices can’t dare to switch up the cross divisional opponents because of this sacred rivalry.

Meanwhile, LSU has to play Florida and Auburn has to play Georgia every year.

If I was a bitch I’d post like some folks on the SECR.

Fact is, nobody cares about Bama/Tenner but y’all.

No one is even aware it’s supposed to be a rivalry. And i wouldn’t care if they wanted to have their little pretend rivalry except it dictates the schedule for the whole conference.

Always watch it. The football weather (freezing cold) is too good to pass up. I wish it would snow more though.

I couldn’t give 2 shits about the Tennessee game.

My take here and everywhere for my entire life has been nobody my age(or probably a little bit younger) should give half a shite about the game.

But y’all didn’t want to end the rivalry when Tennessee was mauling Alabama every year so y’all can kiss my arse.

The last time Tennessee “kicked your arse,” I’m not sure I had pubic hair.

And I’m not sure what your exact emotions about the series are, but a lot of your brethren sure make a big deal about it. And TV still makes a big deal about it, as does the SEC office because we can’t dare have y’all play anyone else.

Oh no, people in positions to make money hype a game? What’s next? aTm will be ranked 25th to hype a contest with Alabama even though aTm sucks?

My feelings are the Tennessee game holds zero weight to me. But it’s not even close to a forced or fake rivalry. And because of that, Alabama shouldn’t give it up to appease you dishonest assholes.

If y’all can show me any other instance of everyone clamoring to end the rivalry because Alabama was getting embarrassed every year, I’ll buy your reasoning for wanting to end it now. Until then, Alabama shouldn’t give up their leverage over the league.

If the present lopsided results continue, I think it will drop off eventually. Of course, OSU and UM fans will always despise each other and make it a big game, but honestly there have been many recent years where where I care more about Ohio State playing Penn State or Michigan State or Wisconsin than UM.

I can remember back to when USC-UCLA was the biggest west coast game of the year and was eagerly looked forward to, now it's just another game. The Wolverines have made several so-so coaching choices, and they need to fix that that to keep this rivalry alive.

Sadly, even though I think Harbaugh is a good recruiter, he somehow can't get over the hump and win consistently against his top 2 rivals.
