I'm really tired of hearing that excuse. It was BS then, and it's BS now.

I watched the game, and I saw the Utes out-play and out-gameplan the Tide.

There was nothing wrong with the Tide defense, no players missing, no injuries, nada. Nothing except the fact that Utah had the perfect game plan for how to beat Alabama and executed it perfectly.

The Utes scored 31 points on the Tide. Their o-line was about 20 lbs lighter per man. The Tide has no excuse worth a damn for giving up 31 points to that smaller, slower team.

Well, BSU and UU had two common opponents in Oregon and TCU.

The Broncos beat both and the Utes lost to both.

BSU 19, UO 8
BSU 17, TCU 10

UO 31, UU 24
TCU 55, UU 28

Boise should be commended for building that shite up. And that did it in the beginning with no-talent dudes like Dinwiddie and Gilligan. It's commendable. Hell of a job by that program.

I have to laugh a little at the 'don't forget what happened at UGA in 2005' talking points. That Boise team and this one are totally different. Its been built up another 4 or 5 levels since then. Team is legit.

Yes, they'd lose 3-4 a year minimum in the SEC, however. No one will deny that. Still doesn't mean it isn't a hell of a program.

OK got it. So we won the Rose Bowl because we beat Purdue and USC while Ohio State lost to those two last year.

If you don't play head to head, you can only go by common opponents.

I still think the Ducks lost that game, rather than tOSU won it. And that's not a knock on the Buckeyes.

Their game plan didn't suck. Yours did.

Not on the field.

Past four years:
Boise State 49-4
Utah 40-12

I think its a peak vs. body of work type deal, honestly.

If you take TCU, Utah, and Boise over the past half decade, I think that peak TCU last year, in mid-season when they were just crushing people, is the best any of those three teams has been. Peak Utah was also very, very good.

But on body of work and consistency, its Boise IMO.

harder competition
Utah's losses:
2006: UCLA (7-6), Boise State (13-0) (score 36-3), Wyoming (6-6), New Mexico (6-7), Brigham Young (11-2)
2007: Oregon State (9-4), Air Force (9-4), UNLV (2-10) (score 27-0!!!), Brigham Young (11-2)
2008: none
2009: Oregon (10-3), Texas Christian (12-1), Brigham Young (11-2)

Boise State has played plenty of four-loss teams. They just beat them pretty much all the time.

there is a reason why the 2 MWC teams were in your "peak" listing and BSU is in your "consistency" listing

Again I ask: If what Boise's doing is so easy, why can't more non-BCS teams do it?

I don't think people claim that Boise doesn't have a great coaching staff that knows how to take advantage of their situation. It is more that they play a bullshite schedule and cry the system is unfair to them

They went 49-4 over the past four years. How many teams would have fared better with that schedule?

To their credit, they went 2-0 in BCS games before doing any bitching. Only six schools have won more BCS games.

WRONG. They seem to think that a technical college deserves a home and home series with the top tier schools in College Football. Sorry, but Boise would be lucky to get a 2 for 1 deal with an Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma or Texas.

In order for BSU to win a national title, they'll have to play all of their OOC games against BCS schools (and win). In order to do that, they'll have to play probably three of them on the road every year

Can you imagine how many teams would LOVE to only play 3 BCS teams a year and still be given a shot at a BCS game? Sure, it sucks to have to go on the road for your OOC games, but the fact that so many other games are against the bottom 40 teams in all of football makes it less of a factor.

shite, LSU played 4 top10 teams on the road in 2006

I doubt many teams would have lost fewer than 4 games, but that doesn't change the fact that it's shite competition. How many elite BCS teams would have down worse? Do you not believe you could list 20-25 teams that would go 49-4 against the WAC? One of the best WAC teams of the last 5 years got SKULLfrickED by a 2 loss UGA that didn't win their division
