A man is supposed to love sports. Knowing the strategy of a sport is a manly thing. Knowing its stars is a manly thing. Knowing its rules is a manly thing. Talking about it with others is a manly thing.
When one can't do that (which is true with many about soccer), people become defensive about that and lash out and project their feelings about how soccer makes them feel ("it makes them look less than manly) onto soccer itself.
Flame away.

When you have a sport that encourages "flopping" to get a penalty call...that is unacceptable.
I end up yelling at the TV "GET UP SOCCER fig" every time the dudes fall for no reason

Do you watch much NBA?

There were not many youth soccer leagues in BR during the 80's.
There were BREC teams all over the city in the 80's. Still, that doesn't make you like soccer as a spectator sport any more. I'm not a soccer hater, but I'm pretty apathetic towards it.

Not a big NBA fan and most of the flopping in the NBA is from foreign born players who probably learned it from soccer.

because it makes me uncomfortable watching brown people kick around a white & black ball. Where is the love

I think there's a lack of "stars" in soccer, at least to Americans
The "at least to Americans" part is the key. If you don't like it and don't watch it, how would you know if there are stars.
I haven't watched an inning of MLB in 4-5 years. Talk about slow and boring, so I don't think there is much star power anymore. True? Of course not.
Messi, Ronaldo, Ribery, Torres, Lampard, Gerrard, Drogba, Rooney, Kaka, Henry.....
The list is huge.

If all you see is a bunch of Euros and South Americans kicking a ball around on a huge-arse pitch for 90+ minutes, I can understand why you would hate it.

For everyone that says it is boring I agree to a point, but baseball can be boring as shite as well... Flame on

Agree. It is boring. Do not love it.
Of course, a baseball game that ends 2-1 is not considered high scoring.

wow...did you just equate a hard count in football to a douche who flops when a guy gets near him, lays on the ground for 5 minutes, gets the ""magic" cold spray, gets carted off on a stretcher only to magically return in the hops of getting a yellow or red card for the opposing player who he can't beat straight up so he has to try to get him thrown out of the game so his team has a chance to win?
really?

A game of soccer that ends 2-1 is not considered high scoring either...

I understand a lot of the hate for soccer in America, but don't understandind the diving argument. There is "cheating" in every other sport. Basketball there are flops, football hard counts and receivers flailing to get interference calls, baseball trapping a fly ball or pretending to tag a runner.
