Because that's what you do at every draft ever.
Manfred has done a lot of stupid shite as commissioner, but I will say that it was a stroke of genius to make the draft part of All Star weekend and make it more of a fan event.

Is he really that bad. The rule changes to pace of play have been amazing this year. Baseball is much more enjoyable now

Some of the rule changes are fine but dude still sucks.
Also the extra inning base runner rule is so bad that it doesn’t make up for the other rules even if they are good.
