If the lines aren't meant to divide the money in half, then what is the main objective in setting a line?
vegas sets the lines to generate the most profitable outcome possible. if they feel they have an advantage they will exploit it; if what you are saying was true, every game would be 50% on one side and 50% on the other and that is rarely the case. it is far more complicated than just "divide" the money on the game spreads.

I agree that it's more complicated. But that's the starting point.
I disagree that every game would be split evenly on both sides. How in the world could a sportsbook ensure that?

But I also know that Boise State was favored by 13 points in their bowl game last year against Arizona State. I further know that I have a fully functioning brain and could tell you that Boise would win by 30 every day of the week.
my bad, I didn't realize you were posting from your yatch in the Caymans or are you in the comped Presidential suite at Caeser's this week?
congrats on your 20/20 hindsight though

1. It's an example. I could have used many different ones.
1a. But if you didn't bet it, you were retarded.
2. You bring nothing to the table.

OSU played almost every single player on our roster last weekend. Our starters were pulled at the end of the first quarter of O & D.
Not saying we will cover, but watching 3 quarters of the game and speaking of sloppy play is accurate. Though, the sloppy play was mainly back ups and walk ons.
For the record, we should cover IMO.

If you a) bet anything short of your entire net wealth on that game you must be a blithering idiot or maybe the b) worlds biggest pussy.
a or b, which is it?

We got two options. a or b. You tell me which one.
neither of your strawmen are valid options.
If you think the guy that set that line didn't care, you are the one that just had a labotomy.
Cherry picking one line that turned out to be way off from the result shows nothing, but luckily for Vegas, there are people out there like you that think it does.

You keep saying this. I had to use a line as an example, otherwise I would have written a goddamn novella.

There is a direct correlation between my confidence in a game and my winning percentage. I've never lost a game that I REALLY laid the wood on. Could it happen? Of course. But if you make bets thinking those bets are going to lose, then don't make bets.

You should really post a pic of your high roller bet receipt for this thread...so we know you're not full of shite who backs nothing up.
You've boasted and blustered about this line and your amazing acumen...you need to put up or GTFO.

OSU lost some talent from last year. they went from a monster WR and 28 year old calming influence at QB to an unknown WR corps and a true freshman QB. that's called a drop You know who else lost all of their offensive production from last year? Toledo. Remember them? I think they played Arizona recently. I'm sure the juggernaut known as Arizona worked them over without much difficulty. Basically what we have here is a table with Free Money scattered all over it. You can either grab the Free Money off the table and go your merry way, or you can come up with a million stupid arse reasons why you shouldn't stuff those free legal tender notes in your pockets, and in your socks, and in your boxer briefs. Me? I'll be rubbing my nutsack with that Free Money. I can let you smell it if you'd like. Don't ever research your way out of Free Money. Arizona sucks at football. Oklahoma State is good.
