Buffalo is smart building an outdoor stadium with no roof so NFL can’t keep it shut in snowy weather. Thats how you cure it. But I understand stadiums do concerts and many other events and need a roof for most of them.
Weather of course is the main reason for domed stadiums. You really can’t have an outdoor baseball stadium in Houston (ask the Rangers:lol). It also allows you to have other events in northern cities during the winter, Buffalo isn’t really a candidate for big events like the Super Bowl or Final Four anyway) and as someone mentioned it also allows them to have real grass vs turf (though that apparently failed with Reliant).
As for the concerts they do also have those in outdoor stadiums, but if there is a roof, I’m not sure it matters if it’s closed or not.

they will do everything they can not to open it and that most stadiums will because of the hassle to get it closed in the event ANY kind of weather happens,
This strikes as a very lame excuse. If there is the possibility of rain by all means keep it closed but the technology exists that they can track the weather. There is was zero chance of rain in Houston the last 2 days.
I had some friends that had season tickets when MMP first opened and they used to open the roof most games around the 7th inning when it was cooler outside. They could do it between innings with no delay. Not sure how often they do it now but they do at least on Fridays open after because they usually have post game fireworks

ANY kind of weather...includes high humidity, which apparently is havoc on the old ones.

I’ve read that the Astro players and organization greatly prefer the roof closed and look for every reason to keep to close it.

Dude the humidity was 35% yesterday the high during the game was 70. No one is adversely affected by that. If they are they probably should be in a bubble in ICU and not out at a game anyway

Hey, I'm not saying I agree with it. Just telling you what I was told by someone in the industry who makes the call to open and close one of those things. Its something they'd rather avoid.

I dont understand so many people hating a controlled climate. Inside is nice and consistent, Ill take a dome for anything and everything. Yall act like sitting in the middle of Houston is the same as Glacier NP on a perfect day with deer prancing around you. Sit inside, enjoy perfect conditions, drink a beer and stfu.

Joel Osteen makes the call and he is very adverse to potential bad weather.

I know it’s not you, but if they say it’s “too humid” on a day like yesterday then they should just say it will be closed for all games and any claims made during the vote to fund the stadium with tax payer dollars that it would be open sometimes was complete bull shite

Eta: for the playoffs I can kinda understand it if they or MLB don’t want it open one day and closed the next but consistent thru out the series.
Zero excuse for roof to not be open for Texans-Saints game

The one liners on the first page of this thread were fricking awful
Are people not even trying to be funny or original anymore? I don’t get it
