Why don't NFL qb's ever hold out?

We've seen guys like Kam Chancellor, DeAndre Hopkins, Revis and plenty of guys before them hold out and true vast majority don't get anywhere because they don't have that much leverage/ impact on the teams chances.

Now star qb's are the face of the franchise and are the determining factor between success and failure most of the time ie. Indy Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers. If Aaron Rodgers held out in order to renegotiate and up his AAV or get the rest of his contract guaranteed after the gtd money had ran out, the packers would be forced to give in. They would suck without him and fans would be pissed off at management for not taking care of their players. Star Qb's are the one position where if players exerted enough pressure they could get gtd contracts or the vast majority of it gtd but they never seem to put that kind of pressure on their teams

QB's make a shite ton of money in endorsements. Holding out for an extra few mil is not worth the PR hit to their marketability.

IIRC Andy Dalton is already out of true gtd money and Wilson will be after this season as well. If I were them I would tell the team to gtee future years or I hold out

Carson Palmer retired due to contact negotiations and wanted to be traded.

Drew Brees. While Peyton was suspended.

The team has never been the same.

There are only maybe 10 QBs good enough to win the Super Bowl in this pass Hsppy league.

Teams have incentive to lock them up long term, & the $ is so stupid those 10-(15) wouodnt turn down guaranteed $$ with the injury risk of the position.

Bottom tier starters don't have much leverage, b/c those teams are usually rebuilding, & you could trade for a stop gap or run the cheap development over paying stupid $ for a borderline starter.....
The cutoff line is Jay Cutler when it gets interesting

Biggest holdout ever.

John Elway.

Trade me or I will play baseball.

In most cases, teams are wisely proactive in providing star QBs generous deals before it even gets to that point.

One reason is qbs tend to get paid and even overpaid as opposed to people like Revis, who don't get taken care of. A qb holding out is also more difficult bc ever qb knows holding out would have a major effect on how his teammates view him.

Cause QB's always eventually get paid. Simple as that. Nobody's trading a high level QB. They get paid.

Revis has been well taken care of.

And though I understand your premise, I disagree. QBs usually get paid before it comes to that. But even when it doesn't, look at the Fitz situation. I don't think anyone is holding that against him.

Didn't Eli basically do something similar with San Diego?

If by something similar, you mean he got his daddy to tell them he didn't want to play for the Chargers, then yeah

Weirdly enough, the same GM who traded for Elway with the Broncos, was the GM (or some other title) with the Giants whenever they traded for Eli
