Only a handful of QBs are good enough to make throws consistently against NFL defenses. There was a time when you could win a lot with great defense and a running game alone, which is why Terry Bradshaw is in the HOF. However with the newer rules favoring the passing game and rendering defenses impotent, essentially the only good teams anymore are those with good to great QB play.

If you don't have a top 10 QB you can't win consistently in today's NFL. Only three teams in the last 24 years have won a SB without a QB playing at an elite level and all three had top-10 all-time defenses.

The flags this year are ridiculous.

Reminds me of the late 90's. That's the last time it's been this top-heavy.

Imagine a 5-7 conference winner getting into the playoffs in college. We've seen teams under .500 not only get into the playoffs, but host the game, and win. It waters the product down where the regula season really doesn't mean anything at all.

Very interesting to me how people invest in watching professional sports where millionaires fail

Is it me or did fantasy kind of ruin the game?

There are good teams and interesting games out there. But they are fewer and farther in between. And half the nationally televised games involve at least one NFC East team, and they all suck.

It's just on now. Back in the day I couldn't get enough. NFL has really gone down hill.

Like today. I have to watch either New England and New York. Screw that. I live in Baton Rouge. I'd like to see the Packers play the Raiders this afternoon, but I get a different game instead. And I ain't buying a dish just to get it. So click. I'm done for the day.

Because every NFL team doesn't get to schedule McNeese, Eastern Michigan, Western Kentucky, etc. outside of the league to "inflate their perceived value" before the start of inter-league play.

There HAS to be a much better game than the fricking Patriots and Titans. Do we really need to see Bill Belichick beat up on the cripple one more time?

There is no reason why they couldn't move Broncos/Steelers to noon and give Broncos/Raiders a national 3:25 audience and move it to CBS. I mean, isn't that what flex scheduling at the end of the season is all about? Game times are moved all the time, and other NFC games have been moved to CBS in the past (and vice versa).

yeah, I think that will be an interesting game. Might end up being a shootout.

one thing I think that has hurt the NFL this year is the terrible officiating but its not all on them. Sometimes the play calling for some teams has just been downright retarded.

example would be the Packers for one. Like I couldn't understand why they kept trying to force Davante Adams into their game plan. He just isn't that good yet or may never be. But I see now that Mike McCarthy is calling the plays again so they'll probably start to do better on offense.

The league simply micromanages and controls it too much.

Newsflash: Assuming no ties, there will be 256 wins and 256 losses between the 32 teams each year. Team records are not an indication of the quality of football in the NFL.

For the record, I agree with your premise, but pointing to team records is a dumb way to prove it.

yeah if I could pick the game I wanted to watch every Sunday I'd be a lot bigger fan.

Television controls product too much. Not the NFL. That's the consequences of the huge network contract.

If the NFL were smart, they would have told the networks a month ago, "look--we don't care what you want, the Dallas Cowboys suck, are going nowhere, and will not be on national television for the rest of the year. PERIOD."

I mean, I didn't even consider watching the Jets/Cowboys game last night. The party I was at had the New Orleans Bowl on TV last night, there were no LA Tech fans or alumni at the party, and nobody even asked to put the NFL game on instead.
