Because it's disrespectful. Do you guys call Texas (UT) Texas-Austin (UTA)? Our school wants to be known athletically as Louisiana. Yet for some reason people don't want us to do that.

Lol how? I guess I could see how people could be offended by the University calling themselves "The University of Louisiana" but getting butt hurt from us using "Louisiana" just doesn't make sense to me.

Neither does trying to have your athletic program called "Louisiana". It just seems like yall are doing whatever possible to get out of LSU's shadow. And I wouldnt care if most ULL fans didnt hate us for no reason.

That's the root of this whole debate. Why is it that LSU fans think that we are trying to one up LSU? We realize we will probably never be on LSU's level.

Yea that's not true. you only pay attention to the UL fans that hate LSU but the reality is the majority of UL fans don't hate LSU. And the majority of the ones that do (i'm not one of them) don't do it because of jealously or "no reason". Some of them are tired of dealing with some of the a-hole fans at LSU. Some of the older ones are still upset about how at one point we were officially the University of Louisiana but it was quickly changed thanks to LSU lawyers. And then there are some idiots who don't know why they hate LSU. I don't like those people either. They give us a bad name. But we have to deal with them, just like you guys have to deal with a-hole fans.

I got into it with a UL-L fan/alum yesterday. He seemed to be no different than yourself (Hazelnut) or Hendo, a true fan who isn't part of the LSU Haters society in Lafayette. I admit, I did poke fun at some of the new things ULL has picked up over the past few years, i.e. the "UL" hand gesture, and compared it to the longtime tradition of Texas schools' hand gestures. After getting all the laughs out, I admitted to him that I wish ULL only the best because I know ULL fans aren't the only ones in the state who have their haters (I'm looking at you LA Tech). Actually, I can see why these select few fans "hate" LSU. When you have alums that open up their check book so free and easy to cut a check to TAF but have never made a donation to their alma maters, it would piss me off, too.
As for the name of the university, I think it should be noted that ULL as a whole is making great strides in order to better themselves athletically, obviously. Therefore I see no reason as to why they shouldn't be allowed to call themselves Louisiana or UL. All of the other schools in the state who have a part in the Louisiana system really don't have the financial backing to call themselves the #2 in the state with namesake "UL". UNO is close to being closed down due to academics and really don't have much of an athletic program, and like a poster said earlier, ULM students, fans and alums are apathetic with the direction of the school.

Most Cajuns fans don't hate LSU athletics, I watch all the LSU games unless they conflict with watching ours. However, most UL fans have distain for shitty LSU fans/posters(like yourself apparently) and LSU as a school.
You rantards should spend less time blowing your loads over us wanting to be called Louisiana/UL and more time worrying about not spying TR out of the backfield like yall did on Nov.5
