Why are we giving Texas receivers such a pass

It was one week and the MSB expert prognosticaters are now coming out of the woodwork knowing arch would suck 5 years ago.
And yes, he was bad in his first start against the defending national champions. But I’ve heard pretty much nothing about their lack of weapons on the outside. They got no separation all game, and are playing a little white dude who’s a freshman 3 star recruit.
How did Sark let that room get so depleted?

I definitely didn’t see anybody as good as Golden or Worthy but I would guess they’re just young and guys will emerge as the year goes on

Yeah, if they were seven feet tall, they could have caught some of those overthrows.

A “generational” QB can typically make the team and more notably the offense better around them.
Arch maybe had 3-4 good throws total. He was side arming a few and overthrew a few others. He honestly looked like dog shite for 3/4ths of the game.

Is there a reason you aren't giving a lot of the credit to OSU's DBs? Igbinosun is a 4th year starter and Matthews split time last season on the outside and locked down the other spot.
Fact is, it's a combination of 4 things; Arch struggling, OSU's secondary being good, UT's receivers not being all world (they have some really good young freshmen I think), and OSU's DE Patricia causing real problems for Arch not knowing how to read what he was seeing

Really don't think guys like DeAndre Moore, Ryan Wingo just regressed to being bad wide receivers overnight but I'll admit I haven't watched any footage since the game.

I am, they’re really good. There’s a reason they’re ranked number 1 with a new qb who didn’t look all world either.
But my point, which I think is worth discussing, is Texas may struggle against anyone with a good back 7. Wingo is a nice player but he’s not carrying the corps by himself (and he wasn’t even good against OSU) and anything else they have is going to have to come a long way to make Texas a legit national championship contender.
Personally, I think arch will be fine. Not other worldly, but very good. Not good enough to carry his team where they ultimately want to go though with the weapons they have on the outside

I think they need one of their two true freshmen WRs to step up. Didn't they get the top slot WR and Ffrench who has good size.
Think in the first game you just stick to what you know. Now that Texas has a few weeks to get right, you will see what you have from the younger guys

Not an excuse for someone with the hype Arch got but Ohio St probably has 3-4 NFL players at corner too.
Arch wasn't ready, a tune up game may have helped .
They should have went and beat the crap out of North Texas first

Texas has at least three five stars in that WR room.
Wingo, Jaime Ffrench and Kaliq Lockett.
Perhaps Texas and Sark have a talent evaluation problem?

Is it that depleted. Don’t recall elite receivers catching balls that skipped off the ground to them, catching crossing routes with the ball thrown a yard behind or 4 feet over their head.
How can you tell they are depleted after that game?

They couldn’t get any separation. Arch missed some easy throws, but it’s not like he was fanning guys running wide open either.
They both need to get a lot better

Dude. They had guys open numerous times that didn’t get thrown to. Arch just missed the read or didn’t see them.

I watched the game twice, I didn’t see that. Maybe I’m wrong though
I thought Arch missed a lot of throws, but I also thought he didn’t have anywhere to go with the ball on a lot of his drop backs. With all of the discourse surrounding him it’s hard to tell who’s being honest and who just wants to pile on the “Arch sucks” bandwagon

Dude is going to put up insane numbers at TCU in a couple years.

It's a good point. The receivers can't separate and Sark called a really bad game
