One Wed. afternoon when I was in my early 20's, I was Shaq. I got into a 4-on-4 game at a Dallas city park near Skyline High school with some Vietnamese kids who were skipping school. I was driving, scoring, and rebounding under the goal, which is something I never do. I'm a jump shooter. But that day I was the tallest guy on the court. I blocked some shots. It was my most dominate day of basketball ever. It wasn't much different than shooting by myself. My sides were hurting at the end of the day because those little guy were some hard running dudes. I used to play that same court from 10 AM til whenever, every Sat. morning and that was the only day my 5'9" was the tallest guy there.

Kyle Macy when shooting free throws (even did a sock thing for a bit).

Cheryl Miller (I was a SF in HS).

But did you have everyone's respect like Oakley did? Did you keep it real?

When Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter both played for Toronto, they came into Dallas one night and beat the Mavs. Both scored over 20 points and they had at leat 10 dunks between them. The high flying duo were the story that night. I got quotes from both of them. Oakley may have been the oldest guy on the team, and he had a double-double, so I thought it would be cool to get a quote from him. I asked him what he thought about the two of them having all of those dunks in the game.

He answered, "That's their f*cking job."

I was the 8th man on a 9-player team. I did always seem to make things happen when I got on the court and picked up the best guard to defend.

But, no real talent. Definitely no size. Just at a small, country podunk school. Had fun, tho.

Back in the 90's, I used to rain 3's in the RecCenter at LSU like I was Dan Majerle...but that was literally my only useful skill.

I was 8 and we played basketball until the streetlights came on almost every day when the guy below was in his ascension to legend.

My neighbor and I would play take-out to a 100. Best 2 out of 3. Many fights over the years over penalties not called. What a grand time it was.

I earned the "Bird" call when on the court and not just because I'm white. Once in a blue moon there'd be another white guy come to our court to play, but I was there daily growing up.

Peja…. Is bird with 35 more lbs and can’t pass. Put him up there with rice. 90s20s allowed them to sit on the perimeter and shoot.

Illinois’s has pejas son. I expect them to fight for sweet 16. Not sure if they make it
