I assume he means Porcello, but that's not happening.
But 18 wins!!! And no other statistical area indicative of being the best pitcher in baseball. 18 wins and counting!!!

Why would a player on a team 20 games below .500 be the MVP? Doesn't seem very valuable to me One of the best players in the game? Absolutely. Not the MVP in 2016.
Because most people treat most valuable as most outstanding. So what if his team wasted his value, it's an individual award. If the Astros miss the playoffs like it appears, would you stop voting for Altuve?

Possibly. Right now they're 3 games back in the wild card I think? Just like in the NFL and NBA, I agree that the award should (usually) go to the best player on a playoff team. That is of course assuming that there isn't some outstanding player who just outperformed everyone by a mile on a losing team, and in Trout's case, he hasn't. Altuve has outperformed him this year so why Trout would even garner a vote makes no sense on a team with a record so shitty.

A top quarterback or NBA player has way more impact on a team than any individual baseball player. Also, I disagree that Altuve has outperformed Trout. It is close, but Trout has been better IMO.

A player on a losing team has only won MVP 5 times since 1931.

If the Astros don't make the playoffs, then the award will go to someone on a team that does.

And that is why I think Trout won't win, but he should in my opinion. Voters are getting more enlightened though. Historical baseball award voting is pretty bad. If this was still the 1980s, Mark Trumbo might be a leading candidate.

I do think that there is something to be said for making hits when they matter. Trout hasn't made a hit that mattered since May. I don't necessarily think that the team has to be a playoff team but they should be in contention for the majority of the year. Last year I think trout should have been considered this year no
