What Durant is doing is incredible too and he can score efficiently from anywhere on the court, which LeBron can't do.

You sure about that?

At the rim
LeBron - 78%
Durant 75.6%

3-9ft
LeBron - 58%
Durant - 52.5%

10-15ft
LeBron - 42.5%
Durant - 64.5%

16-23ft
LeBron - 43%
Durant - 42%

3 pointers
LeBron - 42%
Durant - 43%

LeBron can shoot with anyone now, even if no one wants to give him credit for it.

1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. Paul?

These are the three best players in the game right now (when Paul is healthy), so that is the only thing preventing from a tier 1 player. Honestly, the fourth best player in the league is up for debate with Howard's decline.

In the conversation for four this year are Kobe, Dwight, Wade, and Melo. Also, Westbrook, Harden, Duncan, and Parker are also lurking around this year's top 10. Honorable mentions go to Kyrie and Brook.

In 2010, Dwight was my MVP. Him and Lebron were having the two best years. I just thought Dwight was marginally more impressive. I hope Rose donated his MVP to Thibs. His missed time shows how awesome of a coach Thibs is.

I think they'd have about 5 less wins. He's kind of right about that IMO. The reason lebron is the MVP imo is because he is the one player that is the difference in whether your team is going to win the title. Trade him for the best player on any of the best 5 teams and I think that team becomes the new favorite to win the title. My argument is more that he is the most valuable player "in the league".

But no one considers the MVP in that kind of vacuum. Jordan won 5 MVPs and should have won more, but he didn't add that many more wins during the regular season to the Bulls. Even without MJ in 94, the Bulls won 57 games.

Slightly better defender?

Slightly better passer?

Let's be honest, if you replaced LeBron with say, Paul Pierce/Rudy Gay/Paul George, the Heat would have what? 1-3 less wins?

I agree. They don't award the MVP like that. If they did Jordan would have won twice as many, Shaq would have won from like 99-2003, kobe would have won from like 03-08 and lebron would have won the award since then.

MVP at this point should be between Lebron, Durant and CP3. Honorable mentions to Melo

I agree. Lebron should win. But the clips are fricking garbage without CP3.

Now, it is a two-man race. Paul should have been in the discussion until he missed those games though.

That's true, but he's missed quite a few games, the media tends to frown upon that

One of those years Nash won it, it actually helped his MVP case when he missed games cause the Suns were so terrible without him.

These are dunks, layups, hooks, etc. Yeah, they are "shots", but not much skill is involved in them.

Pretty sizable difference no?

16-23ft

No difference really here.

Durant - 43%

Tell the rest of the story: LeBron has 157 attempts in 47 games (3.3 per game) while Durant has 230 attempts in 50 games (4.6 per game). LeBron has 5 good-great 3 point shooters on his team to spread the court (Allen, Battier, Chalmers, Lewis, and Miller). Durant has K-Mart and Thabo (who are having career years because of Durant).

You forgot to bring up the fact that Durant is shooting 90.3% from the FTL (second in the league currently and he's been the leader for stretches). LeBron is shooting 73.5% from the free throw line.

Not really, but okay.

meh, if he only misses one or two more games the rest of the season, he should still be in the discussion. doubt he only misses one or two, though.

Durant has a better Defensive Rating than LeBron does this season. Also has more Defensive Win Shares.
