quote:I agree. I'm not debating that. The impact an individual player has on his team with regard to the sport has NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, to do with the premise of colluding to win a championship. It's the same spirit of intent. It doesnt matter if it's basketball, baseball, football, hockey, or playground softball.
Individual players in basetball have a significantly greater impact than they do in other sports
People who hate lebron are just going to hate. That's just how it is.
If you're going to criticize lebron for doing it just because it's basketball, but give other players in other sports a free pass, I think it's hypocritical. Either you want to win, or you don't. It doesnt matter what the sport is

7 years is a damn long time to have to live in cleveland, especially when you have the resources and ability to live anywhere you damn well please. i will never blame anyone for choosing to relocate from a rust belt city to fricking SOUTH BEACH. the special was lame, but the boys and girls club has a few more dollars today than they had yesterday. if that means a few cavs fans feel like their cheerios got pissed in, so be it.

I see nothing wrong with what he did.
He took advantage of a media driven country.
He chose to go to team where the front office WANTS to win and WANTS to put together a team that will contend. Not ride the coattail of one star and hope for the best.
frick Dan Gilbert. He can cry and bitch and moan all he wants but he had no intention of trying to make the Cavs better. All he's interested in is using LeBron as his money machine and giving him shite for support.

GoldenBoy
He seemed sincere when talking about Cleveland. He talked about wanting to win and put himself in a good position to do that with players he enjoys playing with.

I don't blame James for this nearly as much as I blame ESPN for fawning over him and allowing this cherade.
ESPN used to be relevant sports wise. Now, it's little more than the E! channel with sports as an occasional background.

the sport is irrelevant. The basic premise is the same. you know it.
Incorrect. The scale and impact is much greater than in college football where the playing fiels is much different.

Ultimately then, blame the people that watched and followed the story on ESPN. They wouldn't do it, if it didn't pay off.

As I think I said before, it would be much more ballsy and interesting to the NBA fans to see LeBron go to Chicago and have the Bulls compete with the Heat. See LeBron compete against Wade. Would make for a more interesting season and playoffs.

Well, we're gonna have to agree to disagree then. To me, the sport is absolutely relevant.

But that's the thing. I dont hate Lebron. I love Lebron. And as a fan of his, it's going to be harder for me to root for him in Miami than it would have been in Cleveland, New York, or even Chicago.
By the way, I think Lebron and DWade are both going to have to significantly change(i.e. scale back) their games to be able to play together. Neither of them are going to be able to be as great as individual basketball players than they would have been otherwise. And as a basketball fan, that's kind of sad.

I think comparing the LeBron saga to Shepherd talking to Reuben Randle is sort of silly.

I couldnt agree more. As a basketball fan I wanted to see him go to the Bulls to balance out the power in the NBA. But who can blame him for leaving Cleveland, he prob. wasnt happy there.
