Maybe not, but as a professional and fellow businessman, he could have maybe let Gilbert know that his investment(the Cavs) was about to be devalued a couple hundred million dollars. I'd love to see how much the Cavs are worth today vs. what they were worth a month ago. Gilbert's letter was a bitch move, but I think he's got a pretty good reason to be pretty sour.

so by yalls definition Russell Shepard and all the recruits he tried to get to come to LSU aren't "competitive" because they want the best players to come to LSU to win titles.
apples =/= oranges
It was also pointed out last night that it would be more interesting to see James beat Wade for a title, or vice versa, than see these three join together.

Not even close to being the same.

This. The entire episode was fricking ridiculous in my opinion. It will be fun to watch the bandwagoneers this coming season though.

Of course he did nothing "wrong". It was just kind of weak.

I wonder if all the Lebron-lovers would feel the same if instead of James this whole story was about Drew Brees deciding what to do then getting on national TV and doing the same thing?
Its almost impossible to even imagine Brees doing this but how would everyone feel then?
" I put my time in with the Saints, I built them to what they are but Im taking less money to go to the Cowboys. They give me a better chance to win right now"

Can't compare. Brees is not a weak minded follower.

Nothing wrong with the actual signing (move). Everything wrong with the announcing of it. Three entities look awful at the end of this. 1) Lebron for being a classless arse. 2) ESPN for blatantly acting like the whores they are. 3.)NBA owners (the ones chasing Lebron) for showing that they don't have an ounce of self-pride.

not the same situation though, bron is from the area, was drafted by that team. brees is from tx, went to college in indiana, drafted by SD, and brought over to NOLA via free agency.
Not to mention the cowboys and saints hate each other. I doubt the cavs really cared about the heat until now

Because there are only 5 basketball players on the court at 1 time. And only 12 on a team. And an individual player has an infinitely greater impact on a basketball game than a football game. Not to mention the fact that there are at least 10 other CFB programs every year where players are doing the same thing. It actually helps level the playing field(for the top teams). C'mon Pilot, you're smarter than this.

colluding with other players to join a team that gives you the best chance at winning is a perfectly normal thing regardless of the sport. it doesnt matter if hs recruits do it when choosing a college and it doesnt matter that lebron did it. He isn't a coward any more than those hs players are. They want to win. period.

see that is what's wrong with your post we've built a winner around Drew why would he go to a lesser team? He tried to get Bosh to join him with the cavs, and even with the chance of playing with the best player in the world!!!!(or 2nd) and getting a max deal he didn't want to play/live in cleveland

Wasn't Kobe demanding a trade after getting his arse kicked by the Suns? The Laker front office came through and surrouned him with a team that could win a title. The Cavs front office didn't. Period.
Guess I have to post this again. The Laker front office did nothing major to alleviate Bryant's concerns when he demanded to be traded. The Gasol trade resulted from the Bynum injury and it occurred FOUR months after the season started.
Kobe demands trade 5-30-2007
Season Starts 10-30-2007
Lakers Play well 10-30-2007 through 1-13-2008
Proof of Kobe/Lakers playing happily before trade LINK
Bynum Injury 1-13-2008
Gasol Trade 2-1-2008.

I agree totally. The point is that this whole thing and the way he handled it was like a bitch-whore. He's been planning this shite for a while too. Thats why he only signed a 3 year extention. It was hard if not impossible for Cavs management to sign any big time free agents when they all already knew "the Chosen One" was leaving.
frick that bitch!

Call me old fashioned, but I agree with Jeff Van Gundy. James should have made a phone call to Dan Gilbert and tell him of his decision before that silly assed t.v. special. Just common courtesy considering the circumstances.
According to Gilbert, Lebron completely stopped speaking with everyone in the Cavs organization after the season ended. It would have been nice for him to at least let them know so they could move on instead of holding them hostage.

Maybe to you, but not to me. If this were baseball or football, I wouldn't care at all. But great players on a basketball team are a much bigger advantage than great players on a football or baseball team. The Yankees went 10 years without winning a World Series with the highest payroll in baseball. The Colts couldn't even get to the AFC Championship game for the longest time with Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Edgerin James, Dwight Freeney.
Individual players in basetball have a significantly greater impact than they do in other sports. Do you not agree?

Without Brees the Saints are basically a 500 team. Does anyone really not think that?
