As awful as he looks nothing is really comparable to the Colts blowing a pick on Richardson for QB of the future. Fortunately they have found success with Jones, though.

We got rid of playoff qbs twice lately after having one of the best records in the NFL. (Keenum and darnold)

The problem here is too many people think it’s “knowable”. The future is not predetermined. Thst goes both ways though, all the message board “experts” boasting they were right are the ultimate broken clock. If you say every one will bust out you will probably be “right” more often but not because of insight gained by watching Michigan games on TV but the law of avg
The staff that went with McCarthy also turned Darnold and D Jones around so I’m sure they thought they could do it again. Arrogant perhaps, but not unreasonable

He's very raw, and missed all of last season due to a knee injury. The best case scenario would've been to keep Darnold another year or two while JJ develops, but Darnold had plenty of suitors. They need a veteran right now because he's completely overwhelmed.
