Oral Roberts looks the part.

Who do you see possibly making elite 8?

Maybe I should have said seeded 10 or below.

If Kent State (25-6) wins the MAC tourney...pay attention to them!! They have some very "good" losses and Sincere Cary is a guy that in a tournament setting can go off and lead a team to the Elite 8. He just went off for 35 against Akron. Kent State has a great basketball history and has been to the Elite 8 before.

Notable games this season:

@ #2 Houston 49-44 (Led by as many as 10 pts and gave Houston alllll they could handle)
@ #9 Gonzaga 73-66 (Kent should have won this game...Gonzaga used a 11-0 run in the last 2 mins to end the game and steal a W)
@ College of Charleston 74-72

Carry plays like shite away from home, and that's the huge flaw with Kent State this season. Great home team, very average road/neutral team. That's not a good formula for a tournament run.

I don't know if they'll be able to, but I'll be rooting for Furman to make a run. I've got 3 family members that are alum.

ETA: And a good colleague of mine that went there. He's a Buffalo native so how he found a small, private, Christian school in South Carolina I'll never know.

What’s a better school, Furman or Wofford?

College of Charleston… they look legit. Guessing a 12 seed that will upset a 5

Furman does get ranked higher in the US News liberal arts rankings (for whatever the hell those are worth). It’s also slightly larger and in Greenville. With that said, Spartanburg isn’t the worst town, it’s slight cheaper, and it’s right next to an all-girls college.

ETA: That school does have male students now, but it’s still an 8-2 ratio.

Furman is just a bit better of a school academically. Wofford alum have better connections.

Hell yeah brother we’re coming in hot. I’ve got 12 of us committed to traveling to wherever the committee sends us. Just locked up Coach Pat Kelsey for 5 years at 1.2 million a year, have a top 40 recruiting class coming in (highest ranking mid-major class), and talks of an invite to the A10. The future is good for the Cougs

The fact that we grabbed Paris instead of Kelsey or Furman’s coach is criminal and an indictment on Tanner’s athletic department.

Definitely have the potential. They have 7 guys who see 20+ minutes of action, and 6 of them shoot +35% from 3PT. Also all three of their main ballhandlers have a 3-1 Asst to TO ratio. Their only kryptonite will be a team with good defensive forwards as their front court can be forced into turnovers and offensive fouls.

To be fair, I’d imagine Kelsey much prefers making 1.2 and living in Charleston than 1.3 and have to live in Columbia.

He has 5 schools listed as places he’d leave, and only for those schools (Xavier, Cincy, etc.). He’s going to be at CofC for a while here thankfully.

Why do you think we’d only pay him 1.3? Lamont gets 2.2-2.4, which is how much more than Kelsey was making last year when we were searching? It’s well and good for Charleston, but if he has another season or 2 like this, a school that puts more resources into basketball than we do will come calling and will put that 1.2 to shame.

Probably, won’t be the Gamecocks though.

Yes, that was my point. We locked up someone who wasn’t near as successful as Kelsey, which is another demonstration of how bad our AD is under Tanner. I would’ve liked to have seen us go all in on Kelsey or Furman’s coach. Kelsey will already be locked up elsewhere by the time we are looking for a new coach again.
