the ones that make it are but teams have wasted high round draft picks on guys like jamarcus Russell. They get drooling over the arm strength too much.
Russell was a 68% passer his junior year. He was the total package in terms of physical attributes. He did not have the professional mentality, unfortunately.

In the NFL it's a tougher call because if you can't throw downfield effectively and stretch the field your offense will usually be ineffective in the modern league. Accuracy is probably still more important, but this is precisely why most spread QBs don't succeed in the league. They usually lack good arm strength and can't the deep and sideline throws.
I think arm strength is more relevant to the patterns where you need to zip the ball in a tight window, such as a 10 yard out. Without arm strength, the corner jumps the route and takes it for 6.
A deep ball is more about touch and accuracy.
I do agree that if arm strength is a qb's best attribute, they probably aren't a great qb, as accuracy and intelligence are probably more important. However, without arm strength, the offense will be limited.

I thought the same thing when reading his comment. He went to the worst organization he could have gone to in the draft also. I really thibj he might have been successfulnin with a decent organization.

Thats the thing about the NFL you need it all.
You can only go so far with a noodle arm.

Just like velocity for a pitcher. It's nice, but location and movement are more important.

Very important. It's pretty much a standard that any successful QB has great arm strength. Now the difference between great and "the best" is less significant in arm strength compared to other attributes like accuracy and poise.
But if an NFL QB does not have great arm strength, he will not be a starting NFL QB.

Except movement doesn't matter and arm strength is necessary for a lot of locations.
