What's your opinion on Lance?

Yeah he cheated, but so did everyone else he was racing. Imo it doesn't take away the fact that he won the Tour 7 freaking times. His podcast is pretty cool to listen to as well. What's the MSB think?

Hard. Dragon type are pretty tough to beat in gen 1

Wasn't he outspoken about antidoping?
That's a bit more than cheating like everyone else.

Meh. Pot meet kettle. No respect.
Hella racer regardless.
Still a fraud though.

Don't care he cheated. One of, if not the dirtiest sport. Everyone cheats. Plus he raised tens of millions for cancer research, so while he may have cheated, it helped a lot more people than it "hurt"

Blastoise with Blizzard wrecks his shite

I said from DAY ONE he was going to get away with being a total dick because everybody acted like you can’t criticize him since he had cancer.
I’m enjoying this.

Not just that but he ruined those who accused him of doping. Had he simply doped, won 7 and then confessed when he was accused I think most would forgive him and explain it away (all dope, etc). But I have a hard time forgiving the way he responded to the accusations.

Except he went out of his way to basically destroy the life of anyone who dared accuse him of cheating.

The real issue is how he went after those who accused him. They were right.
He deserves every word of critism he gets. He is/was a total arse.

1. He cheated in a sport where everyone cheated. Same as baseball, football, NCAA, etc.
I dgaf about that and would guess most people don't unless they just like to whine.
2. He lied about it.
I dgaf about that and would guess most people don't either. They might initially be upset, but at the end of the day everybody lies.
3. He was an a-hole to his friends, teammates, and his sport.
At first I was pissed off about this because it demonstrated lack of character. I get it though, he had staked his position (didn't cheat) and was going down with the ship even as his story fell apart. We see this happening right now in politics (Russia collusion flop), people digging in to their lies and lashing out at anyone who calls them out on their bullshite.
It is tough to admit when you are wrong. And if your ego is bigger than your integrity then it is easy to go down that slippery slope of denial turning into projection.
That is something that the individual has to reconcile and make amends on their own time. It has to be authentic.
After listening to a handful of his podcasts it sounds like he has done that.
I am willing to forgive him.
And the good he did (cancer related) outweighs the bad he did (turned on those closest to him).
His podcasts are pretty good, interesting guests from a variety of backgrounds.

While that was pretty low character, most of the people accusing him of cheating were also cheaters and just looking to cut a deal for themselves by ratting out Lance.

Bike riding is a hobby not a real sport, so I don’t really care

He had a nice cameo in that dodgeball movie.

That about sums it up.
I listened to the Rogan podcast with Lance. That put a lot of things in perspective.I think he paid his penance now. In my mind he still won those races.

As a former racer and still avid cyclist I watched every tour and full well knew he was doping just like 95% of the peloton. Anyone who has ever ridden seriously especially if they have visited or ridden some of the routes of the classic TdF alpine stages knows what they were doing day after day is humanly impossible. The explosiveness they had after 2 weeks to mount and counter breakaways just can't be done by the human body. So the doping means nothing to me.
The people that he "destroyed" reaped benefits from the same pharma trough as Lance did. I am the type of person that if I willingly help you bury the dead hooker that is in your trunk and later have a crisis of conscience I will take myself down but leave you out of it. It is my personal code of loyalty it doesn't stand up to moral scrutiny but that is my code.
What I will also say is cycling especially the grand tours are not nearly as exciting as in the height of the doping days. Those TdF's in the early 2000s were amazing. I would take time off just to watch every stage in real time.
Lance was the best cyclist I have seen in my lifetime, but I never got to see Eddie ride.
