So Miles had a team that was ranked top 4 to begin the year and has stayed there all year qualifies him to be COY automatically? I guess the rebound of Michigan and Virginia are just nothing? I don't get it. I thought COY was about who did best job, not whose team or staff did what was expected.

Going into the year everyone on here expected that LSU would be in SECCG and a BCS bowl, correct? Who thought that Michigan would be top 25 or that UVa had a chance at winning the ACC until last weekend of the year, nobody.

My other candidates are: Franklin, Briles, Summlin, and Cristobal

you obviously don't read what these "sportswriters" write.
2 of the last people who would vote for LK.

The thought of Kiffin receiving coach of the year votes while Tennessee is coached by Dooley is sickening.

A team NO ONE expected to truly go undefeated. Again you are ignoring the situations that took place. Yes they were ranked in the top 5, but they also had one of the hardest schedules ever and still went undefeated. That is too great a feat to ignore.

It's terrific to turn programs around, but fact remains one coach still had 4 losses (3 of which were non ranked opponents) and one was an INSANE blowout loss.

TCU's coach 2 years ago was a legit coach of the year. I agree with that..

The other coach had his team beat 1 ranked opponent and still dropped 2.

What Les Miles has done, given his circumstances and quality of schedule is too great to ignore.

Miles deserves COY award for what he accomplished. LSU had an extremely tough schedule that appeared impossible to win out on, and did it. This all the while overcoming adversary all year long (new OC with Parkinsons, starting QB suspended, Hesiman contender suspended, etc.)

However, I think Lane Kiffin deserves mentioning this year. For a team on scholly restrictions and very little to play for, they emerged as one of the elite in the Pac10. With that said, Gundy would have been my #2 choice and Kiffin probably around #5

I am not ignoring anything. I think Miles deserves credit, but I think the guys I listed probably have done better job this year. I think that Miles' best job was the Peach Bowl year, where that team should have unravelled. I guess my interpretation and yours are different.

Cristobal

FIU underachieved. Hudspeth and Freeze did better jobs in the SBC.

None of those other guys have Jordan Jefferson or Jarrett Lee as their quarterbacks. The job Miles has done managing those two alone and an undefeated record with the #1 SOS merits the award alone.

The QB's at Vandy make JJ and Lee look like All Americans, Michigan was a mess, Summlin had Keenum coming back, Briles beat OU and Texas but also put the system in place for them to win, he tweeked it as it wasnt solely RGIII. Cristobal had revolving QB's.

Michigan, Vandy, and Coog High all had losing records last year also.

I still consider London the COY though.

Don't compare LSU losing a player to Houston losing a player. LSU has second and third teamers who'd start for Houston.

The point was they sucked last year cause they lost there QB, sumlin didn't do anything magical, he just got a good QB back.

Right... The guy that got blown out 38-0 at home with the conference title game birth on the line is COY. Ok.

Wat year did LSU lose it's starting QB and suck? They rotated through a bunch when RP was kicked off but was still in top 10 due to the defense.

Yeah, but these 2nd and 3rd string teamers still have to go up against 1st team defensive NFL prospects week in week out.

Who expected UVa to playing for that chance? I guess you don't consider things you just look at records.

You also have to take into account where he was coaching. Different levels of depth/talent/expectations. The fact that he had UH in the top 10 is amazing.

Hudspeth just won 9 games and I'm trying to find his house so I can break in and blow him while he sleeps. 9 wins is the minimum for LSU; people on here would be calling for him to be fired.

So UH sucks without its starting QB, they get the QB back and they are good, but its the head coaches doing?

I don't get your point. I'm saying LSU has guys coming off the bench who would be stars in C-USA. Same for Alabama.
