As a 10 year old in 1997 when Damien Craig beat lsu with under a minute left after Cecil Collins ran like a man child hurt. A couple weeks later we lost to ole miss the week after we beat the number 1 Florida Gators. Even my dad was sad for a whole week. The following year in 1998 we were finally going to beat Alabama at home in 30 years but bama scored 2 touchdowns in under 2 minutes and I had the sads. That was the last time I let a game do that to me. All the other lsu games we lost I was pissed but I didn't have that same feeling I had when I was 10. All these years with les miles I know we are going to win a big game and we will always lose to a team we shouldn't so I'm ammune to it.

Saints vs Rams 1984. Last second FG loss, would have been first ever playoff birth.

Astros vs Mets Game 6 of 1986 NLCS.

2009 SEC Championship was hard but more because if what it meant for Tebow's status all-time than the loss itself (win there and he's basically the hands down greatest college player of all time instead of top 5-10).

Overall maybe the 92 or 93 world series since I went and was like 10.

USA Men's soccer loss at the World Cup. Just a simple tap into the goal and we win and advance.

Probably 1992. Unless you're a Phillies fan.

2001 SEC Championship game

VOLS were on their way to their second NC game in 4 years. Then Matt Mauck ripped our hearts out with a QB sneak over and over and over again

I'll add to the millions of 1/9/12 posts.

As an extra kick, the one professional sports team who I really root for is the Cincinnati Reds. Barry Larkin (who only played for the Reds and I grew up watching) got voted into the hall of fame that day. So now every time he gets mentioned as a hall of famer, I also have to think about how shitty that night was.

As a kid, the 1994 Alabama/Auburn hurt the most... Bad spot on 4th down... first loss in two years. Last time I ever cried over a sporting event.

The loss to fsu hurt, but it was a hell of a ride just to get there... Had 2010 never happened, I might feel different.

Oregon losing to Stanford in 2012. That team was loaded on offense and defense and just shite the bed hard at home against Stanford.

DeAnthony Thomas not turning around and blocking Stanford's safety who chased Mariota down from behind when Mariota was streaking with no one to beat to the endzone sucked.

Chip Kelly running the ball over and over again when the TE seam route was killing stanford all game sucked.

Maldonado missing two FGs sucked.

eta - That was a regular season game but that loss cost Oregon a chance to play against Notre Dame in the title game that year. Oregon's losses in the title games meant more and hurt a lot, but personally, this loss hurt the most.

I would say Blazers Lakers 2000 WCF but that was my first year as a Blazers fan. I was 9 years old and it is the only time I have every cried about a sports loss but it didn't hurt as much as some of the Oregon losses cause I was so young and didn't have years of disappointment already.

I say he is top 5 anyway.. I think it would be tough for anyone to come up with 5 better than him..IMO....
