Out of left field? Thats the definition of bandwagon, "I'll root for them if its worth my time and if they're doing anything worthwhile"

wow way to take that coment way out into left field
Left field?
How would you define a bandwagon fan?

You are taking the comment and running with it. What was meant behind it was, I see UofH won the armed forces bowl, my reaction, cool good for them. I see Rice won the NCAA baseball national championship. My reaction, cool good for them. UofH plays in the MNC and wins, cool good for them. I don't care though because i did not attend either university, I attended LSU so in any college sport my loyalty goes there.

see comment above. Not a fan of UofH. If they win, great. Don't really care if they don't though since I went to a different university.

btw just out of curiosity, how many Braves/Cubs fans am I arguing with in this thread?

Rooting for them and having a semi non-emotional reaction, like you claim in your last post, are two different things

I'm a Rays fan, been one since I was born in the early 80s

So you are saying that you can't be a fan of a scholl unless you went there?????

Thats not at all what i'm saying. That was my reaction to the UofH bandwaggon comments. I'm saying you can root for whoever the hell you want, just don't call yourself a "die hard" fan if you don't have an affiliation with the team. It's kind of annoying. An example, I know plenty of people from Houston who are "die hard" Cowboys fans and they will tell you it is for every reason under the sun other than the actual reason which is they saw them win Superbowls when they were young and followed them ever since. Same thing applies to Louisiana Braves/Cubs fan (although the winning thing doesnt apply to Cubs fan) who says they are die hard fans even though they have never been closer to either city than Monroe Louisiana

Are you saying that we can't have a favorite MLB team because we live in Louisiana.

Sounded like he said you can't be a fan until you GRADUATE from there. Guess that means all the current students aren't even fans

For me, I became a Cubs fan because someone gave me a Ryan Sandberg figurine when I was about 3, and I thought the Cubs were the best team in baseball. When I became a huge fan of sports, Louisiana had no MLB teams, so I've been a Cubs diehard. Didn't get WGN till I was older, though.
