Denver Is Boulder close enough to count

Baltimore has Towson (1AA), Morgan State
Cleveland has Div 3 at best

New York has Columbia, Fordham and Wagner (1AA)

New Orleans (Just kidding)

Who is in St; Louis or Kamnsas City?

it is similarly ridiculous to say that Northwestern isn't "in" Chicago

well its not in Chicago, its in Evanston, if we are counting metro areas then Cal counts for SF, which was a guess of the OP.

As I said if we are counting metro areas and NAIA, we will be hard pressed to find a town with out CFB if it has a stop light.

I don't know, Boulder is about 35 miles from downtown Denver. Berkeley is just accros the bridge from SF. It's a slippery slope.

No one said Evanston is not suburb of Chicago, go read the first page, if Berkley doesn't count for SF, then technically NW should not count for Chicago.

Apparently TulaneTigerFan thinks you should stop looking for teams when you get to the official city limits

Have you ever been to San Francisco? UC-Berkeley and Stanford really aren't even that close to the city. Cal is in Berkeley, which is separated from San Francisco by Oakland. Stanford is in Palo Alto, which is a good 45-50 minutes south of San Fran on the BART. It's not like Metairie to New Orleans or Baker to Baton Rouge.

If we're including 60-70 mile circumferences around each city then the answer to this thread is going to be some place fairly obscure.

Not going through all the pages, but if NAIA doesn't count Butte, Montana does not have a college football team. They only have the NAIA Montana Tech Orediggers.

why yes I have been to SF, but thanks for the geography lesson! I'll grant you Palo Alto is a reach, but Berkeley is VERY close to SF...to use your Palo Alto analogy, just like going from BR to Baker

I was unaware there were ground rules set by the OP (there weren't). I just said we "should" use metro areas b/c of how sprawled out cities have become and people in the burbs still think of themselves as being part of the city. honestly though, it doesn't matter

NAIA has to count now, because that's an awesome team nickname.
