I bowled in the 150-170 range last night. I tried breaking the 200 mark but was unsuccessful. Is that OK for someone who goes twice a year?

Hell I'm lucky to break 100 as a casual bowler. Is this a subtle brag thread or are you genuinely curious?

If I'm being honest 150 was my median. I hit some highs but also hit 130 my first round.

Bowling is for pussies that can't play real sports.

Yeah that's a good score. Anything over 150 for an amateur is really good.

I think 150+ is pretty good. I used to bowl pretty regularly, and I was hovering around 180-190 most times.

My scores are usually around 120-160. I broke 200 one time. I doubt it'll ever, ever happen again. That's when I was bowling at least once a week.

120+ Seems good watching most around me not break into the 100s. I have zero form at all. I just try to bowl straight. It's kinda like with pool. If I'm sober I'm OK. Buzzed, I feel like a god. Drunk, I will be an embarrassment.

To be considered a professional bowler, you need to average 200+. So as an amateur, anything in the 150+ range is plenty solid.

I presume you are trolling, or seeking attention, but you might learn one of the keys to sports.

you either make a strike or you don't. you either pick up the spare or you don't.
you can't choose to bowl 200.

in baseball, you can't hit 300. you either get a hit or you don't. one at bat at a time.

bowling is the same. you make a strike or not. you only look back later and see you bowled 170.

I feel like you thought you were making some deep sports point but really you just sounded weird

My best is 180 and average about 130. I may bowl a few times per year. Your best amateurs are averaging 180-200. I would say respectable is 125-150 based on the average Joe. When you start failing to hit 100, that is when I feel embarrassed...and it happens.

Sometimes I kill it and hit 120-140, other times I hit like frickin 60 and shite

I have no form, and just kind of forget how to bowl until I do it for a couple games

Hell yea it is...
Breaking 200 is all about stringing strikes together and closing out frames... open frames are your enemy for high scores...
If you focus on a consistent pocket entry, your score will shoot up 20-30 pins...
Close out frames, and you will be tough to beat

If you are talking bowling average, you are way off here. 180-200 is not semipro. You can find a ton of recreational bowlers at All Star who average above 180. 140-180 is about what most league bowlers will be so "top amateur" is off too. If a League bowler averages 120, they are just terrible. A better assessment would be:

PBA-210-300(nobody comes close to averaging 300 btw)
Good league bowlers-190-210
Average league bowlers- 150-190
Anything below 150 sucks
